Road trip Traverse City to Mackinac Island
Planning a road trip in late September beginning in Traverse City and traveling to Mackinac Island. What is the best scenic route with an overnight or more stop in between? We're from the south and this will be our first trip to that part of Michigan so anything will be new for us. Would appreciate any suggestions. Taking a week maybe a little longer, also allowing time in Traverse City. Any recommendations for accomodation would be nice, as well. Thanks in advance.

Head up to the Upper peninsula, it’s beautiful and the boat ride to see painted rocks National lakeshore is wonderful. We enjoyed Traverse City, Petoskey, and Mackinac on the same trip. I do not not remember any of the places we stayed. Enjoy!
