Road Trip Reviews site - Comments / Suggestions?

I'm thinking about creating a Road Trip Reviews site, because I've seen many people give suggestions / itineraries for road trips here.. and I think it could be more organized.

Do you think it'd be a good idea? I'm interested to hear what you think.. please be totally straightforward. : )

If you have a second, feel free to answer these quick questions:

1. Would you post your own road trip on a travel website to help others in planning trips? Y or N

2. Would you take other people's road trip itineraries into consideration when planning a road trip? Y or N

3. What is most important to you when on a road trip?
a.) budget travel
b.) scenic routes
c.) charming hotels & eateries
d.) arriving to final destination as quickly as possible

4. Which of the following ages groups do you fall within?
a.) 16-29
b.) 30-45
c.) 46-60
d.) 61 +

I LOVE the idea--have been on many road trips in past.However, now the price of gas put that out of my reach....

I have to tell you, there are many sites that have already done this like Road Trip America. http://www.roadtripamerica.com/forum/

1. I usually have good intentions to write a trip report but usually don't get around to writing it. If I do, then I will post it to the places I frequent. Like here at Fodor' or iVillage http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv...e=ivl,searchmb

2. Yes, I like to read what others have done to see if I've missed something in my planning.

3. b.) scenic routes

4. c.) 46 - 60

1. Y
2. Y
3. d.), b.), c.), in that order
4. c.)

That said, I doubt you'd have many hits on a travel website with such a narrow focus. Most of us can get whatever we want/need from a site such as this one or TripAdvisor.

1. maybe
2. definitely
3. c b a d
4. I am abstaining from answering this because your age ranges are too broad. Its depressing me.

Thanks all for the messages so far!

@utahtea:
Yeah, i've taken a look at RoadTripAmerica, but I think the whole road trip planning / itinerary listing thing can be more organized than just a big forum filled with different posts. Maybe, better organization doesn't matter but I think it'd be neat to search through various road trips by ratings, by # of days, by starting city.. etc..? no?

@beachbum:
Yeah thats the one thing that worries me - that people are satisfied with the data they get on road trips on sites like TripAdvisor.. Although it seems like from the responses I've gathered so far that we'd have a good amount of people interested.

I'm planning on launching it from www.roadtripd.com, and would love any feedback/criticism along our way.

@Lorrieishere:
I'm sorry.. :( I'm depressed that I've depressed you now..

@FainaAgain:
Haha It's not a school project, I'm a professional web developer and thought it'd be a fun thing to do on the side, since my girlfriend and I enjoy road trips. :)

Good luck!

With so many sites offering the same info already, it may be hard to generate traffic.

@Keith:
Which other sites offer this same info?

Just curious as to which you were thinking of... this is a point that I think many others may feel, but may not say. Thanks for the honesty / input!!
