We are leaving Silver spring on 12/22 pm to fayetteville NC (stay 1 night, booked), Next day to Charleston SC (1 night, booked), next day to Georgia (Savannah), Amilia Island, Tampa (clear water) return on 1/2/17 back in town. The rest are open and flexible. Any suggestions on duration and things must do for each stop? Thanks.

Why did you PICK them?

I would spend two nights in Charleston, and I bet you can make it in one day.

Take US 17 (not I-95) through Beaufort, SC to Savannah. Spend the next two nights.

Drive to Amelia Island. It isn't clear whether you plan to stay there.

I would stay on A1A south to St Augustine, maybe Daytona Beach, then join I-4 to Tampa.

Aside from the beaches, Tampa has a few interesting sites. They have a good aquarium there, plus the city history museum is interesting. There is an art museum just devoted to Salvador Dali, if that's of interest.

On Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach is a neat little town with lots of antique and other stores.

Saint Augustine--about 90 minutes south of Amelia Island-- has a lot to see and many good places to eat, and this time of year it's decorated for Christmas so it would be good to be there after dark.

In Tampa try the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City, which is definitely worth a visit. There's one in St. Augustine too, but it's generally very crowded.

We prefer to stay in St. Petersburg rather than Tampa, however. Also, Tarpon Springs, north of Tampa, is a Greek sponge fishing place and is worth walking around in.

All these things will keep you busy for the amount of time you have, and more!
