Road trip Tennessee to Arizona

I will be retiring fall 2018. My husband and I are starting to plan a road trip from Nashville, TN to Scottsdale, AZ. Once in Arizona we plan to stay for a month before heading back to Tennessee. We will be traveling January to February 2019, Any suggestions of sights to see along the way or places to stay would be greatly appreciated. Are there any weather concerns we should be aware of with traveling that time of the year?

You could run into snow and/or ice on the roads. Drive carefully and listen for weather alerts.

How long do you want to spend on the road to Scottsdale?

If it looks like there will be bad weather, you might want to go south to New Orleans and then west on I-10 through Texas.
DW and I will be spending a couple days in Yuma in early February.
If you need any dental work, Los Algodones is very popular.
Take your passport and walk across the border into Los Algodones.

We don't have a timeframe for traveling out to Scottsdale. If there are things to see along the way we would stop. I also appreciate the suggestion of traveling via New Orleans. We have never been there and this just might be the opportunity.

I would spend some time in New Mexico along the way. If weather lets you travel the northern route, go to Santa Fe, if the southern route, visit Carlsbad Caverns NP and White Sands.
