Road from Wailea to Lahaina
We will be staying in Wailea but want to go to dinner in Lahaina a few nights. How are the roads as far as traffic and are they well lighted. I think I have read it is about 45 minutes?

We stayed in Wailea and drove up to Lahaina one day. I wouldn't say the traffic was bad at all and the trip will take only about 30-40 minutes. Of course we were constantly stopping to take in the scenery along the way, so I may not be 100% accurate!

I think more like 45 minutes. The popular restaurants you might need reservations or a wait of about 20 min.

Diane, like most other places,if you are traveling on a weekday avoid the morning and late afternoon rush hour.

Stayed in Wailea area this past November. Drove a few times to the Lahaina area. Depending on the times you go you will either hit traffic or not. It is a long and VERY winding road and dark at nite no street lights at all. Enjoy

Sandra:<BR>Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that as I do not do well night driving. I'll make sure we get back before dark or have bf do driving.

Unless you have a very very early dinner, like 4:30 or 5:00 and leave the restaurant by 6:00, you will be driving back to Waillea in the dark. Remember, this is the tropics and it gets pretty dark by about 6:45 pm. I wanted to mention that the highway between Wailea and Lahaina may not have street lights but the roads all have those great reflectors embedded into the pavement and they really really help at might. Don't be afraid of the drive back after dark, the roads are good.
