March, 2006 vacation 4-5 days. We're looking for your suggestions on an A/I, adult only resort. But most importantly, the resort with the best food. Not quantity of food but the best tasting cuisine. (and the best wine would be nice). Thanks!

You posted this on the US board, try the Latin American one. I don't care for all inclusives, but Royal Hideaway is regarded at tops in the food catagory. May not be adults only, but they don't allow small children.

If you MUST do AI, RH is the only choice.

I by no means have low standards in food, but all inclusive and best tasting cuisine seems like an oxymoron. When we stayed at Iberostar Quetzal, I had no problems with the food. I was perfectly pleased. I just believe good cuisine comes at a price and naturally they are not serving meals that normally come at a 40-50 dollar price tag. I truly believe you get what you pay for, if you want the best you need to be willing to search out restaurants known for that, not an all-inclusive. Just my opinion.

I just remembered a hotel, but it isn't a/i. It gets great reviews, but I am sure it is very expensive. It is called Maroma and they advertise having a wine cellar with some of the best wines.

I'm so happy I hooked up with you folks. I see now A/I will probably not be the way to go for us. Upon further review, we will research a nice hotel (adults only) or resort and do additional searches for the best food and wines in that area. We are open for suggestions. Warm, sunny, relaxing, for 50ish folks. Thanks!

if you can afford it, Maroma & Ikal del Mar look wonderful.
There are a lot of small hotels in Playa del Carmen as well for much less -- checkout tripadvisor.com.
