Riverwalk San Antonio hotels
thinking about a long weekend in San Antonio to experience the Riverwalk and the Alamo among other things. Favorite hotels at the riverwalk under $300 a night? What is weather like in mid September?

SAT hotel rates are highly volatile depending on conventions and vacations. Shop hard and book early.
Hilton Palacio del Rio is freshly remodeled with spacious rooms from original construction. In a great spot with lots of in house conveniences. Both Marriotts are great hotels in good location, but massive. My go-to midrange is the Courtyard Riverwalk. Many good restaurants within one block. Residence Inn is one easy block from the Alamo and maybe for blocks from Riverwalk. Have a good time. A very pleasant place. |
Weather in Texas in September will still be on the hot side.
We've only been to San Antonio in December but live in Houston. The weather in SA is not that different. We have stayed at the Drury Plaza Hotel Riverwalk twice and really like the location and the hotel is lovely. http://www.thesanantonioriverwalk.co...ry/drury-hotel |
We usually stay in one of the B and Bs in the King William District. Walking distance to the Riverwalk.

In September it will be very, very hot. Early September can be as bad as August. With late September, it might be cooling down, or it might not. It really depends on the year.

I was there to attend a week of cooking classes at the CIA - mid September last year. I about died of the heat every afternoon when I tried to sightsee after classes were over. Evening cooled down more than in summer, but still hot, hot, hot. Still had an enjoyable time, though.
I stayed at Homewood Suites Riverwalk. Not luxury, but clean, comfortable and affordable. Big rooms, comfortable bed. Since I was staying for a week, I wanted a little more space. Valet parking only, but extremely efficient - even at 6 AM when I needed my car, but also at peak times. Breakfast (included) was OK. Wine, beer and a frozen margherita machine in the lobby for free late afternoons - as well as a mediocre "light supper". But after walking around in the heat, the frozen drink machine was heaven. |
