Riverwalk
 

I was reading about Riverflicks which is shown on a big screen on the river on Friday nights in August. It is in Pere Marquette Park. Are there any restaurants in that area and is it the Riverwalk area. What are some must sees for a day in Milwaukee (and a night).

I live in the area and work down town. To me Milwaukee is a lot of little things to take in rather than one “headliner event” In 20 years Milwaukee is going to be a real cool place after substantial finishing of all what has been started.

Restaurants are every where, try water street.

You could make this the main focal point. For a day and an evening.

From here you can see clearly the largest 4 sided clock in the world - The Allen Bradley Clock. Located in the Walkers Point neighborhood (Milwaukee’s oldest)
Several blocks north on the river walk DO include a stroll East several blocks down Wisconsin Street to the lake front. Does the Riverwalk permit bicycles? If so, can anyone recommend a place where I can rent one? I'll be staying at the Hilton City Center and will not have a car.

I am not sure if bicycles are forbidden but they would be more of a liability if ridden. The Riverwalk passes through restaurant seating areas etc, so walk the bike. Then ride it to other sights. I walked it on the 4th and took pics which I will soon post (Sat. the 8th?)so check back here for a link to a visual taste.

I walked the Milwaukee Riverwalk July 4th in the morning. It was quiet and short of people because it was before the cafes etc were open and/or people were probably recovering from late night fireworks or Summerfest.

I use a better bicycle technique, rather than rent a bike go to a Milwaukee Good will Salvation Army thrift store and buy one for $10.00 -$20.00 or so. Cheaper price than renting. (look in yellow pages) It will not be a model likely to get stolen and you can re-donate it when done. Just bring a chain and lock when you come. I bought 4 before I went to NE Canada. Before coming home we just left them there with a women who had 5 kids .

ps take the frequent city buses to the goodwill or Salvation army stores after calling for bike selection quantity ask in hotel for city map or computer mapquest
