Riverside CA Restaurant
I am planning a memorial service that will be at the Riverside National Veterans Cemetary. It will be a small group and none of us are local so we won't be going back to anyone's home afterwards. I don't even have a time yet for the service but I am looking for a restaurant that is in close driving distance where we could go for lunch or a light meal. I think there will be about 12 people. It doesn't need to be a really fancy place just something appropriate for the occasion.

Thanks Logandog, I looked at their website and they all look very nice. I have always wanted to go there but never had the occasion. I live in Orange County and there will be people coming from there, San Diego and Banning so the location would be convenient.

Also by the Mission Inn are Mario's Place (although I don't think they do lunch), Ciao Bella, Phood On Main and Tamale Factory. Simple Simon's is also close to the Mission Inn and is a more casual lunch place. Closer to the National Cemetery are Dragon House and Mimi's (both in Moreno Valley) and Flo's Farmhouse Restaurant (esp good for breakfasts though my last visit was a while ago.) Jammin' Bread (save room for any dessert they sell) and Smokey Canyon (hubby really likes their baked beans, tri tip and berry cobbler) are 2 more casual spots just off I-215/60 at Canyon Crest. Hope your memorial service goes well.

Thanks everyone, we had the service today and then went to the Mission Inn, to the Mission Inn restaurant for lunch. There were only 13 of us and we were in the Executive Corner which was perfect. The room was an alcove off of the courtyard but open to the courtyard. We had the buffet which was very good. I thought the building and grounds were beautiful. I look forward to going there again and exploring more of the building.

I went to UC Riverside and the Mission Inn (in those days a rambling wreck) was our favorite place to explore. We used to scare ourselves wandering those spooky old hallways. So glad that the place has been renovated and is a landmark once again.
