River Cafe/New York City

Can anyone give a recomendation for River Cafe - have read it was nominated for "most romantic restaurant" the last four years - and always comes in at the top of the list or close to the top. It is expensive - but does offer brunch for $35. Is it worth it?

blh:

It is on the Brooklyn side looking back on that great skyline! To look at it in the daytime you would not think it is a frist class resturant. It is really a barge tied to the the shoreline
But...It is a great place to go for drinks on the deck, or if you have the funds, a fine dinner with killer views!
I would opt for sunset drinks myself

I agree that it's better to go at night--the skyline is more beautiful, and as bmw suggests, you could just have drinks if dinner is too $$. Have a great trip!

Actually, the lights have been shut off on the Brooklyn Bridge since March or April (turned on now only occasionally), which really takes away alot from the nighttime view. I'd opt for daytime or sunset.

We will be there in December - so guess drinks on the deck might not work! Can you go inside "just for a drink"? Is the food really good? Thanks for the help!
