Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City?
We are spending a week in Williamsburg at the end of June. We have decided to drive up to Washington, D.C. for a couple of days to break up the trip and to see the sights. We definitely want to take in the Museum of American History, Air and Space Museum, Natural History, etc. I don't really want to drive in D.C., so we've made reservations at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City and will take the Metro into D.C. Does this sound like a good idea. I would appreciate your comments. Thanks.
It's a fine hotel, metro right outside, convenient to the metro, big mall next door, chain restaurants across the street. Quick shot into the district.

Sounds like a great travel plan. And the RC is right at Pentagon City mall, in case you feel like a little shopping! Metro's "blue" line will take you right to the Smithsonian station, so you won't even have to change trains.

Yellow line is even faster than blue into DC. Pentagon City is 2 stops from L'Enfant Plaza, which is only about 2 blocks south of the Mall area (Smithsonian), take the yellow and you'll be at L'Enfant Plaza in 5-10 minutes. The Ritz Carlton is in a good location for sightseeing, it's in Pentagon City Mall (Macy's, Nordstrom, food court), across the street is another mall with Costco, Best Buy, California Pizza Kitchen, Chevy's (mexican), and behind Pentagon City is another shopping are (Pentagon Row), with Lebanese Taverna, Baja Fresh, and other restaurants, plus some stores.

Thanks for the info!! I think we're going to have a fun trip.

The Ritz is very nice, but unless you dig chain restaurants and malls, then spend all of your time in DC, and only come back to Pentagon City to sleep.
