Ritz Carlton Orlando

We're getting married in Orlando next April. Will be going to Italy for honeymoon, but looking for a nice place to stay in Orlando for wedding night and maybe one additional night. Had been considering the RC Grande Lakes, but I was wondering if anyone had any other recommendations for nice, relaxing, relatively kid-free hotels in Orlando area. I'd appreciate any opinions.

You should probably repost with a different title, such as "Kid-Unfriendly Orlando hotel rec. needed". Only those who've stayed at the RC Orlando will even read this.

It's not a non-kid spot but it is definitely a great place -- the Animal Kingdom Lodge. You get to look out onto the veldt with its various assortment of exotic animals. And the lobby is just gorgeous.

Another suggestion is the Park Plaza in Winter Park. It is very romantic and has balconies for people watching. Winter Park is an older wealthy neighborhood just east of downtown. There is plenty to do there, including a great museum of Tiffany stained glass. And you can take one of the boat rides that goes from lake to lake, sort of like a gondola, very private.

Also check out the Grand Cypress. But keep in mind that anything in that Disney/Universal area will be loaded with kids.

I've stayed on the Ritz Carlton/JW Marriott property 3 times now and there have been no children to be seen at the Ritz side. They might be at the hotel but the JW has a Lazy River Pool that begs for kids and also a zero edge kiddie play pool. The kids go there. The Ritz Spa pool is gorgeous with no kiddies allowed. It is one of the nicest spas I've been to in the past three years and I am a spa hound. Definitely the nicest in Florida at this time.

I have seen no children at either Normans or Primo, the two signature restaurants at the hotel. It would probably be the most kid free resort in town as they do not promote vans to the theme parks, etc.

LMF, how convenient of the hotel to lure those little urchins away with a lazy river! And a spa pool with no kids allowed. Well, what will they think of next? So un-disney of them. I'd like to give it a try it sounds so dee-lish. Did you do a review of Primo once? It seems I remember that it was yummy (big grin smiley with lip smacking).

fwiw, my neighbors are golfers and spent 5 days at that rc and loved it; side by side massages or manicures/pedicures could be very romantic.....
The spa is wonderful apparently..........

The resort has an awesome Greg Norman golfcourse and it is very attuned to the central Florida environment. They do early a.m. walking tours in season discussing flora and fauna.

TG: I loved Primo. Here is my review from last Thanksgiving.
