Ritz Carlton - Half Moon Bay
I'm planning a 5 night stay at the new RC HMB this summer. This being a new hotel, there aren't many reviews available. Anyone have any experience with it?
|
Personally, I'm afraid you'll be bored to tears for five days in Half Moon Bay. Why not split your time between a hotel in the city and HMB? Just my opinion.

The new Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay is getting rave reviews so far, although we haven't been there yet. There are two fabulous golf courses to keep you busy as well as all the features of a Ritz. Admittedly, there's not a whole lot more on that section of the coast, so if you want relaxation and pampering, it's the place to go. If you want excitement, I don't think you'll find it in HMB.

Lyndon:
Just curious, how did you come to decide on a 5 night stay at the newest attraction on our lovely California coast?
Was their a promotion, can you share?
I agree with the previous posters about the time allotted.
We visit HMB during Oct. for obvious reasons. Tell me more...cost keep us away from this RC.

Peace and Happy Travels
Oaktown

The exterior of this particular Ritz looks very much like a PRISON!!
|
Dan:
Would that be a prison for white collar convicts or criminals??? (smile)

I have not seen it up close, see my previous post, but prison didn't come to mind. My husband and I did stay in a former prison in Spain. One of the Paradors was a prison at one time.

I will take a look at the Ritz web site for a photo...

BTW is Lyndon real? I did a search on the RC HMB before his post and pulled up over 300 reviews. RC HMB has been schmoozin' the travel folks and society folks for months over there.
No fightin' over this one, ok?

Peace
Oaktown

I had called th Ritz and was told they did not have a pool which kind of threw me even though the weather in Half Moon Bay is always cold and foggy when we are there. We enjoy the Seal Cove Inn down the road for a lovely European feel B&B>
|
Seal Cove Inn is Karen Brown's B&B. HMB is generally cool and windy--great surfing (in wet suits) but around here it's known as the "Sheepdog Beach" cause those are the creatures who love it the best. Farm stands and U Pick berry farms, crabs during the season (over now) and of course, pumpkins in fall. The architecture of the hotel was planned very carefully--it's almost not visible from the road so doesn't obstruct the residents' views. There was great controversy about that in the past. I don't think it looks like a jail, but know that there is a reason it's not a big flashy resort.
