Ritz Amelia Island or Ritz Reynolds Plantation (Lake Oconee)?

I am planning to stay at the club level at either Ritz Amelia Island or Reynolds Plantation on January. Any suggestion on which property offers better club level. Which property seems to be more impressive? Any other suggestion is welcome.

Thanks

Does anyone have any comments about these properties?

Thanks

I thought about this the first time I read this, but didn't know how to answer. They are both beautiful properites. I've never been disappointed with a club level room (or amenities) at any Ritz, so I can't imagine you going wrong at either location.

What time of year? Amelia Island is a beautiful oceanfront property and quietly elegant. I absolutely love the look and feel of the Reynolds Plantation location. It reminds me of a wonderful New England lodge that sprawls out along the shores of Lake Oconee. It is wonderful in fall and winter with adirondack chairs and chimineas scattered on the grounds and huge fires in the lobby fireplaces. The spa at Lake Oconee is wonderful - one of the top rated spas in the country I believe.

I would base my decision on time of year I guess. Club level at either should be equally as nice.

Starrsville,
Thank you for providing your comments!

I am planning to stay mid January (very soon).

I was thinking that in January probably Reynolds Platation should be great, as you said with chimineas scattered on the grounds...

So, did you like both properties equally?
Thanks,
Carl

In mid-January I would definitely choose Reynolds Plantation. Just read an announcement email about a local jazz singer performing there this weekend. Would love to head there on Saturday night....

Check out the website for packages including meals around the chimineas. Of course, if you are staying on a club floor, you may not be interested. The food there is very good and the spa is awesome. Take your swimsuit. Fireplaces in front of the spa jacuzzis. Very nice.

Don't know where you are driving from, but if it's from Atlanta, you may want to stop and eat at the Blue Willow (Social Circle exit off I20). Also, get off at 441 and at least drive around the town of Madison. Probably the best collection of antebellum homes in the SE - at least in GA. "The Town Too Pretty To Burn". Sherman's roommate at West Point was from Madison so he spared the town on his infamous March to the Sea (and his scorched earth policy).
