Richmond Dining
 

Am planning a romantic weekend at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond with my hubby. Any suggestions for upscale and romantic dining in the area? Reservations required? We don't mind driving, but would prefer walking distance to the hotel.

Since you're staying at the Jefferson, definitely make a reservation at Le Maire, which is located in the hotel. It's known to be the best restarant in the city and the food is excellent. Make sure you try the peanut soup-- there's nothing like it!

Amy, thanks for that suggestion. We will be having brunch at Le Maire (at the hotel), so we are looking for dinner somewhere else.

Check out Zeus Gallery on Belmont. A delightful little place to eat. Unfortunately, they do not take reservations. Get there early or late for a minimal wait.<BR><BR>I live about a block away and have eaten there many times with my wife. Also look at Acacia in Carytown.

La Petite France is exquisite. Going on a weekend get the concierge to make a reservation for you & get driving directions. Don't go on the interstate, go thru town, only 15 minute drive. It is in sort of an industrial area, small restaurant, Chef Paul Ebling and his wife Marie Antoinette have had a restaurant here 25 years. We go every year on our anniversary, it is divine! Another wonderful place, divine food - the Old Original Bookbinders by Tobacco row. It is too far to walk as well, but short drive. (The Bookbinders in Philly closed but this one will remain open). Reservations good idea. JImmy Snead, Frog & Redneck chef, has new restaurant he is opening at Sixth Street Market Place that I can't remember name of - once you get there ask concierge, the folks at the Jefferson are helpful as can be! Have great time!

Amici in Carytown is very good for Northern Italizn. <BR><BR>Avoid the Tobacco Company. <BR><BR>Someone told me that new restaurant(s) opened where the Frog and Redneck used to be -- anyone have any comments about the new restaurants?
