Richelieu vs. Place D'Armes in NO
I've found good rates for both of these hotels in mid-July. How much would parking be at Place D'Armes approximately? (Driving to New Orleans so will have to park somewhere.) How do the two compare? How are the pools? Quiet or not? Any info would be appreciated.

I have stayed at the Place D'Armes once on a spur of the moment trip to the French Quarter Festival. I had a good experince there, but be aware that some rooms have NO windows. I would ask about that if it is important to you. We got a great deal on such short notice and did not mind the lack of windows as we were not in the room much. They have a great courtyard and some rooms even have entrances off the courtyard. I have never been to Le Rich., but have read good things about it. The Place is also in a great location, right in the middle of things. I cannot remember the parking fee, it was two years ago, but almost all of the hotels charge a pretty penny.(Except maybe Le Rich. I know there is one that doesn't, and this may be the one.)

Good Luck and Have fun!

Chazz

Tana, I've stayed at Le Richelieu and the parking is free there. The courtyard is smallish, we enjoyed having drinks there, and the pool is unheated. We were there in February and they were having a bit of a cold spell so no one was in the pool. The rooms are nice enough, service was good. It's an older hotel but we enjoyed it. I liked the location too. It's in the Quarter but on a quieter end, walking distance to everything.

Tana: We stayed at Place D'Armes & loved it. The location is smack in the middle of the Quarter yet far enough from Bourbon Street to be quiet. You couldn't get much closer to the St. Louis Cathedral & Jackson Square. Our room was great, courtyard/pool beautiful, can't comment on parking as we didn't drive there. Have a great time!

Can only speak of Le Richelieu. It worked great for my family last June & going back this June. Guarded, free parking lot. Nice rooms, views, area. God walking distance to about everything, unless you have someone with disabilites, etc. It is at the East end of the Quarter. I would & have recommended it. Good luck.

Place D'Armes is a better location, when you walk out your door, you KNOW you're in the heart of the Quarter. We've stayed there numerous times and NEVER had a room w/o windows. Call them and ask about parking rates. My memory tells me it was between $6-10/day. Remember, though-----New Orleans is UNBEARABLY hot and humid during the Summer. PLEASE be prepared for this, if you are not, you could be disappointed in your overall experience.

Thanks for the responses.
As for hot & humid, I live on the Gulf coast already, so hot & humid is what I am used to! =)
