Rhinebeck Area Restaurants

I will be going to Rhinebeck for several days in the fall and was looking for really good restaurant recommendations. I don't mind traveling 30 minutes or so out of Rhinebeck. Thanks for your feedback.

If you are staying right in the village of Rhinebeck, it is always nice to walk to the restaurants - I would recommend Le Petite Bistro, the Beekman Arms(recently new owner), and a small new place called Gigi's. Cripple Creek is also in the village but I haven't been there in a few years. If you don't mind traveling, go to the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park which is only 20 minutes south. They have a website but make reservations now for the fall. There is also a nice Italian restaurant in the hamlet of Staatsburg which is about 10 minutes south called Portofinos. Good food and very reasonably priced...mostly locals. Enjoy!

For breakfast, brunch or lunch, try Blondie's in downtown Rhinebeck.

Fosters makes the best chowder in the winter! We went a couple of years ago in the snow. It is always busy!
What is the name of the place across from Blondies? That is also good for breakfast. I recommend the pub in Beekman Arms for drinks in the afternoon.

Schemmy's is across the street from Pete's (formerly Blondies). Pete's is a very good choice, too. Great prices, great food, although they don't keep late hours. I'd also recommend the Mexican restuarant on the same block as Foster's. I think it's called the Rhinebeck Grill & Cantina.

Ramona, when was Blondie's sold? We loved that place. How is Pete's?

Hi
Too bad about Blondies! Schemmies was packed last time we were up there and Blondies had a line, wonder what they will do now for breakfasts?
I remember when the Cantina was called the Star Bar, we would eat there every trip up. The chef taught me how to make Ranch dressing before they sold it in the markets
We try to book the Petit Bistro for every visit, I love their food and the owner and waitstaff are great!
Hmm, almost time to book for an apple picking weekend ~

According to the local paper, Blondies was sold a few weeks ago. Pete's has another restaurant in Hyde Park. I haven't eaten at either place. They are serving breakfast, lunch and dinner which is something Blondies didn't do (serve dinner). Schemmy's, Pete's, Foster's and the Starr Bar are all places for lunch or a quick dinner but not for fine dining.

We had brunch at the Traphagen Restaurant (Beekman Arms ) on Sunday for 21.95 it is a good deal. I also ate at Gigi Trattoria which had a warm chocolate cake and pizza that was amazing. The CIA is also worth the trip straight down route 9.

Ah The Coach House..I've had good food there and at the Beekman Arms. You might also consider a drive to Woodstock. Check out the Bistro there.
