Rex Skidmore Revealed

Yesterday, I discovered that my co-worker has been logging in to Fodors using the name Rex_Skidmore. Sometimes, using my computer, sometimes using other co-workers' computers. I hit the "back" button on my browser yesterday and noticed that I was showing up as Rex_Skidmore.

I have to admit that some of his posts are caustic. He's a crotchety young man of 30+ years and has a better spoken sense of humor than his posts would suggest. I asked him to knock it off. Only time will tell.

Rex, you're the south end of a northbound donkey.

Hello TripleSec,

Am I to understand that a co-worker used your computer without your knowledge? I work for a large computer company and if that happened here he'd be out the door with a NoSecDelay.

He'd also have my foot up his arse.

Funny you should post this now. I was just reading his comments at the end of the "Patrick's Hell Day" thread and something struck me as not quite right (other than the last name). Was just reading his other postings when I saw this.

Thanks for the heads up.

An imposter!?! [-X

Statia Jun 2nd, 2005 11:31 AM

For true, TripleSec? The way you can avoid Rex's interference in the future is to log out of Fodors when you are away. Then, when you log back in, deselect the "remember my log in" box.

jlm_mi Jun 2nd, 2005 11:36 AM

I guess I don't get it. So, someone here with the userid "rex_skidmore" works in the same office as someone else here with the userid "triplesecdelay". I still know really nothing more about rex than I did before this was posted.

And TSD has never stated here, as far as I can tell, that rex has posted using the TSD userid. Just that they work together.

Why does this matter? I'm sure there other examples of offices containing more than one "fodorite".

Al_LaCarte Jun 2nd, 2005 11:46 AM

jlm_mi,

I think part of the problem is that this "Rex_Skidmore" character is passing himself off as being a ESL taxi driver, which, it now appears, he is not.

I belive that's why TSD is giving us the scoop.

Fair enough. No idea why someone would want to do that, then. But then, I so far haven't seen any harm done by him pretending to be an ESL taxi driver when he's really not. But maybe it could matter in the future.

FainaAgain Jun 2nd, 2005 11:49 AM

Somebody can use your computer long enough to log in to Fodor's? Then it's all your fault, you are the one who is not using a password to lock your PC when you are away.

TripleSecDelay Jun 2nd, 2005 12:01 PM

It wouldn't be worth the time to learn when he posted as me and when he did not. It's just a bit of harmless office hijinx. I thought I would "out" him to set the record straight.
No, it doesn't matter.
Yes, you can continue as you were, friends.

Statia Jun 2nd, 2005 12:03 PM

If TripleSec and Rex are using two different ID's, then no one is assuming that they are one in the same.

Can Rex not log on at his own computer? Or is he a mail boy, rather than an ESL taxi driver, and has no computer so he has to use TripleSec's? :D

TripleSecDelay Jun 2nd, 2005 12:13 PM

We each have our own computers in separate offices. Looks like he was planning something, but not sure what. Or, he had executed his pland and Fodors editors removed his post(s) before I saw them.

There's a history of mutual pranks (from mild to wild) around our office that help us all get through the day.

For example, we once had a pilot (friend of a friend) land his Belljet (sp?) helicopter on the tennis court of my brother's home. When he came home from work... you can imagine.

In retribution, I entered my office to find that someone had placed Dixie cups on every horizontal surface and filled them with water. It took a long time to get the day started.

Be well.

Statia Jun 2nd, 2005 12:28 PM

So, has anyone clipped every last one of your paperclips together yet? To the point that when you grab one out of the container they all come up in one very long row? What a pain in the rear that one is to fix. :)

"In retribution, I entered my office to find that someone had placed Dixie cups on every horizontal surface and filled them with water. It took a long time to get the day started."

....and do you work (and I use the term losely) for a firm to which any of us pay a fee that might go toward your salary? I certainly hope not. Between loitering during work hours on Fodor's boards and office "hijinx" when do either of you have time to be productive?

TripleSecDelay Jun 2nd, 2005 02:46 PM

I'm self-employed TC. Thanks for your false concern.
We're all born equal. Some of us are born more equal than others.

FainaAgain Jun 2nd, 2005 03:13 PM

Hello, my name is Faina and I am an ESL.

Are we starting a support group?

wanderluster Jun 2nd, 2005 03:19 PM

Oh boy, school must be out for the summer.
