It's all relative. There will never be a show that everyone across the board loves or hates. I saw Mamma Mia and hated it, yet I've never heard of any detractors of the musical. So if you're the type that's into vampires and Michael Crawford, go for it. Judge for yourself and don't let those wanting to jump on the negative bandwagon deter you.

And don't let those who single you out by name to insult, when you don't agree with their opinion, stop you from posting your ideas here!

It can't be any worse that sitting through "Rent". I never thought those whiny people would shut up, they screeched for almost 2 hours.

Totally agree about Rent! That loud, obnoxious, head banging crap they called music made me sick! And that stupid tune 'Light My Candle' sung by some nympho in a baby voice was the icing on the cake. If I had a tomato....

I know. Let's start a list. 525,000 reasons not to see Rent:
1. The show sucked
2. The music sucked
3. The acting sucked

Hmm, after reading posts by people who hated RENT, who are probably the same people who hated Dance of the Vampires, then I'm guessing that Dance of the Vampires is actually very good. I'm betting the people that hated RENT and this new musical are old, come from hick towns, and wouldn't know a good musical if it bit them on the ass. I'm betting Hello Dolly is more their speed.

Rent was the only Broadway show that got up and left at intermission. It was way over-hyped.

I was praying that someone would drop the damn candle, start a fire and we would have to exit the theater REALLY FAST.

What about Urinetown. Was/is it any good? The name is such a turn off, I never wanted to see it.
I know one person who liked Rent. She said it made her want to dance..go figure.

I have never wanted to leave a theater so bad as I did when we saw "Rent", it is by far the most annoying thing I have ever seen on Broadway.

Uh, yeah, Rent is so bad that it's only in its 7th year running. I guess middle-aged suburbanites just can't relate to it.

If it's been 7 years, maybe it will get the "7-year itch" and go away.

Tt would be easy to relate to rent, if you are a self-centered, whiny, sniveling, 20 year-old who can't act. Oh wait, that describes most of the cast!

Oh, I forgot, Rent won the Pulitzer Prize for drama, 4 Tony Awards, 6 Drama Desk Awards and 3 Obie Awards in its first year on Broadway. Still running in London too! Not recommended for the bitter and middle-aged.

Yes, because of the tragic and untimely death of Mr. Larson. (And I'm not being crude here, this WAS a tragedy) but don't you think the award people got a little overly-sentimental?

Sorry, I have to cast my vote for not caring too much for Rent. To much yelling, bad singing, and the so-called acting left a lot to be desired.

I actually enjoyed DOTV and found it very entertaining. I did not enjoy Mamma Mia, way too much hype for this one. I've also seen Hairspray, Producers and Man of La Mancha....2 thumbs up for sure on those 3 but thumbs down for Mamma Mia. If you have tickets for DOTV, don't dismay....you may (like myself) find it very enjoyable. I also had good 5th row Orchestra seats which made it quite enjoyable.
P.S. I also enjoyed Movin' Out which received mixed reviews but is sold out every night!

We tried to get tickets and it's sold out??? How bad could this be if it's selling out? I actually heard good things about it with descriptions like bizarre, amusing, entertaining....I trust opinions of others much more than reviews, am I wrong to do this?

They should have cast Meatloaf instead of Michael Crawford. Then it might be worth seeing.
