Returning from Woodbury Common - how to beat the traffic?

Hi

I will soon be visiting Woodbury Common on a Thursday on the Grayline tour. We have done this trip on a Thursday several times in the past and get caught up in extremely heavy traffic after leaving Woodbury Common about 3.30 - 4pm, resulting in a 2 hour trip back to Manhattan! Any tips for good times to leave (earlier or later) to avoid this please?
Thanks
Cathy

I would stay at Woodbury Common until about 6:30 or so.

Does your budget allow for renting a helicopter?

LOL Gekko - I was going to suggest the same thing!

Liberty Helicopter
A transportation tour package from the Liberty Helicopter Manhattan helipad at West 30th Street & 12th Avenue directly to Hudson Valley's Stewart Airport. A limousine will bring shoppers directly to the center. Please call (908)474-9700 for reservations as packages must be booked 48 hours prior to desired date.
