Best restaurants in Philadelphia are on or near Walnut street (1500 block in rhw city). Check out Striped Bass for seafood, Circa for the trendy seen and Palm for steaks. All are within a block of each other on Walnut.

You can also check out www.fodors.com for reviews on these and suggestions for others.
Philly is a restaurant city. There are too many good places to eat than can be mentioned here, however there are some mentioned here that I would not recommend.

Bookbinders: bad food. Nobody from the city eats there.

McCormick's: chain. You can find them anywhere.

What price range were you looking at? At the high end, Striped Bass is one of the best in the city for seafood. For steaks I would recommend the Prime Rib.

If you're not limiting yourself to steak and seafood however, there are tons of excellent places to eat all over the city, in all price ranges. Some of my favorites are Buddakan, Django, Pasion, Vetri and Ralph's in South Philly.

For a classy bar try Le Bar Lyonnais in Le Bec Fin.
