"schlegal, do you really consider 48th St between 7th & 8th Aves to be far from the theater district?"
I could be wrong, but I suspect schlegal looked up Pongsri and found the wrong one. There is one on 23rd Street in addition to the one on 48th in the theatre district. (There's also a third one even further downtown.) But speaking of Thai, I'll plug my favorite, the delightful but rather small and popular Room Service on 9th Avenue between 47th and 48th. I happen to like it a lot more than Pongsri, but admittedly it's a little further from theatres. |
Yup, I googled and apparently found the wrong one. The location suggested obviously works.
My comment about kebabs was a little jab at my own accompanying group--they are not adventurous eaters and just the name "Afghan Kenbab House" is probably enough to scare them away. I like to try new cuisines, my companions, not so much. |
Thanks--John's Pizzaria worked out for us. We got there at 5:45 and were told a one hour wait. It was more like an our and fifteen minutes but we got our meal in time to get to the 8:00 show (which was a blast--Rock of Ages).
Great pizza and the building is cool, too. Thanks for all the help. |
I'm actually shocked you had to wait that long. I guess John's has really gotten popular (or there are a lot of tourists in town right now, both of which may be true). But I'm glad it worked out. They do have pretty quick service given how busy they are.

John's is advertising the Times Square location on radio, even though the original is on Bleecker St.
|
They have a notice on their website that they are not associated with the Bleecker St. location, actually.
|
Really, sorry about that. They were at the outset.
