restaurants near the convention Center
 

I am looking for "good value" restaurants near the David Lawrence convention center on 1000 Fort Duquesne Boulevard (10th & Ft. Duquense). I wlll be there for 10 days in March so I would like several possibilities. Thx

Er, you ARE talking about Pittsburgh, right?

Yes, there are plenty of nice places to enjoy. I am limiting these choices to areas downtown and in the Strip District. You are between the two of them. Pittsburgh has many things to do also outside of Downtown. Downtown is like downtown LA (with fewer crimes), at night. You know how most people in LA hang out in other places? These listings are great for you though. Let me know if you want suggestions in Shadyside, SouthSide or Mt. Washington, too.

Shari: The OP wanted "good value" restaurants. Opus is pretentious without being particularly good-- or a good value; the food there is overworked, poorly-executed (but beautifully presented) and overpriced. The Fish Market is very good, however, as are Tonic and Grille on Seventh.

I'm not a huge fan of the Strip District, but it's far better than downtown Pittsburgh as far as nightlife options go. Head there. Station Square was a huge disappointment every time I've been there recently (I go to Pgh on business every 3 months or so), so you can skip that (except for the fine restaurant there, the Grand Concourse-- well worth the trip).

Everyone has their own price ranges and tastes. Possibly you weren't there on a good night? It doesn't really matter either way, does it? It is simply an opinion.

That is why I posted webpages, so this person could figure out where they wanted to eat.

Station Square is an 80's tourist trap. Nobody goes there unless they are staying at the Sheraton. I mentioned that I was listing posts for Downtown and the Strip.

There are plenty of other areas to enjoy oneself. If the person needs that advice, I would be happy to help. I am not here to pretend like I have the ONLY opinion of a place. That is just a waste of time, and a clue as to a person's own insecurities in life.
