Restaurants Near Penn Station

We are staying near Penn Station for one night and need restaurant recomendations. Something moderate in price. I know this seems broad but any suggestions welcome.

Walk south down 7th Ave into Chelsea and Meatpacking District; Il Bastardo is very good on 7th, cant remember cross-street but it's not far (maybe 10 blocks) about 10 min.

The chelsea neighborhood (in the 20s on 7th and 8th avs) has dozens of restaurants. Check menupages.com for user reviews and menus. You can filter by neighborhood and type of food.

Tir Na Nog is across 8th Avenue from Penn Station/MSG.

Hangawi is tranquail veggie Korean restaurant.

For breakfast there is NYC borough style dinner on 34th off Ninth.

I too would head down to the meatpacking district, you can take the bus, subway, taxi or walk.

If you are willing to walk about 20 minutes east, you can also find several very good restaurants in Murray Hill. I like Ethos on 3rd Ave for Greek Food and would recommend it. THere are also a lot of good, moderate Indian restaurants on Lexington starting at 28th Street, which is a block closer. And if you like barbecue, there's Blue Smoke. There are also a long string of restaurants (some good, some not so good) on Park between 30th and 23rd.

My vote would be the Korean restaurants nearby (32nd between B'way and 5th Ave). Very authentic Korean food - not that easy to find elsewhere in the USA with the exception of LA.

I second the reco of the Korean restaurants on 32nd St.

Not all the restaurants in Little Korea are good, so be weary. I had the WORST meal in my life there. Dinner started with corn tea (really awful), and went downhill from there. We even saw a water bug running from the kitchen, and it died a few feet from us. We think it had committed suicide because the food was so bad.......

For Korean on 32nd street, your best bet is to try Korean bbq where you get to grill your meat at your own table with help from staff. I recommend Won Jo for bbq as their grills use real charcoal as opposed to other places that use gas burners.
If you're into Greek food & whole grilled fish & things like that, Uncle Nick's, a popular Greek place from midtown, just opened a new location at 382 8th Ave. (just a block south of Penn Sta.). Their prices are very reasonable for whole grilled fish etc.

2nd Won Jo on 32nd Street, and go next door for frozen yogurt (pinkberry?)

I think the OP is MIA, but for anyone else looking for a halfway decent restaurant near Penn Station my friends recommend:

They went to this place before a George Michael concert and MSG. They said the food was pretty good.

Hey Jay,

Check out Tracks Raw Bar & Grill. It is at the LIRR level at Penn Station. There are tables in the back and the food is quite good. Crab cakes are delish.

I'll stick to the oysters bar :)

There's an oyster bar at Penn Station? Is it inside it or near by?
