Restaurants near Nassau Coliseum
 

Teenagers looking for familiar low-cost food near Nassau Coliseum - probably chain-type place (Chilis, Outback, etc.) Not familiar with area - sounds like it might be a commercial strip with multiple fast-food places - am I correct? Thanks.

There are diners & chain restaurants along Hempstead Turnpike which is where the NC is located as well as a sports bar/restaurant in the Marriott next door. Advise them to head East on HT NOT West.

In addition to Laurieb's good advice, be aware that Old Country Rd., which I think is very close, has tons of places one after the other including a Cheesecake Factory in the shopping mall with Fortunoff's (called Mall at Source).There's also Whitey Ford's (male teen appeal)in Roosevelt Field which is a huge mall.

This is probably for Metallica next week, no? The Marriott is the best bet, its adjacent to the coliseum, and is the easiest thing to do. If you go anywhere else you will have to deal with the traffic. You can park, walk to the Marriot, then walk to the show.

Thanks for advice - I am trying to convince them to stay at Marriott rather than cheaper hotel we have reservations at (some of you may remember the hotel anguish posted here over this trip - in the end, my husband is staying with them in 3 rooms - they discovered 17 and 18 year olds are not all that welcome at most hotels!)

I think extra $30 per person might be worth it - but it is their money.

And yes - it is for Metallica - why could they not have toured into New England - would have saved me a lot of worry and research.

The Marriott is the best bet just for convenience, especially after the show. Anything will work; it?s just a lot easier this way. If they can spare the $$ they should.

As for Metallica?s tour dates, they are playing areas that they did not play last summer. Which is why they are playing Long Island and not NYC or the meadowlands. They are starting to add new U.S. dates for later this summer, but there is no guarantee where they will be.
