Restaurants near Intercontinental times Square

Dear Fodorites,
My wife 19 year old son and I will be in New York for 12 nights staying at the Intercontinental Times Square.
I am looking for suggestions for healthy style foods, quality rather than quantity. We are not vegetarians but love sea food, steaks and salads. Japanese and thai are favourites.
Willing to try fusion style.

Well to make recos it would help to have a budget (steak and sea food tend to be expensive, never mind sushi).

Separately times Square is not a great area for food - there are a lot of overpriced chain places - and some others you don't want - among some decent places. But there is no reason to eat dinner in Times Square - much of the fun of the city is exploring the various neighborhoods - including the restaurants. And, depending on when you will be here , many areas (but not Times Square) have a ton of sidewalk cafes with decent food and people watching.

So - if you can provide some more info people can make specific recos.

Dear nytraveler. Thanks for your prompt reply. We will be there in late June this year. Budget is not really an issue. Up to $50 per head for lunch. $25 per head for breakfast. More for dinner.

As for being near Times Square thats not an issue either. We love to walk. But for breakfasts we would prefer something close to our hotel - Scramled eggs, Soudough/Spelt bread/ Yogurts/Great Coffee - not filtered - is a must.

Breakfast

City bakery-18th and 5th ave

Veggie-Hangawi-West 30's

Great breakfasts but totally out of the way-Clinton St Bakery-table service (do not go on weekends, the line is absurd)

You've got Shake shack in your building. You can stand in line for a good burger any time. You have all of 9th Avenue's restaurants to explore a block away.
