Restaurants Jackson Hole
 

We'll be in Jackson Hole June 20 and 21. Has anyone eaten at Anthony's Italian Restaurant or 43 degrees North? I've looked at their menus online and they seem to have some nice selections and are moderately priced. The Granary was recommended to us, but it looks like we'd be spending over $100 for dinner there and we'd really rather not go that high. Also, has anyone eaten at The Mural Restaurant in Jackson Lake Lodge? People on Trip Advisor seem to think the food is only fair and way overpriced. I'd like some other opinions because we're staying there two nights.
If you've got a favorite in Jackson Hole that's not $100+ for dinner, let me know.

I've eaten at Anthony's and it's quite good, but that was many years ago. A very casual local's type place.

Haven't eaten at the Jackson Lake Lodge.

When I go to Jackson, I always like to eat at the Sweetwater. Excellent, not inexpensive, I'd say average for a nice place in a resort town.

I had dinner at the Mural Room two years ago and agree that it was average at best. I'd skip it.

I'll second the recommendation for Sweetwater. Very good, not too pricey and a nice patio.

Another great place in Jackson, at least for breakfast, is the Bunnery. HUGE portions, so make sure you are hungry.

It's been 4 years since we've been there but we ate at Bubba's - a Fodor's recommendation and it was good. Mangy Moose was fun as well.

There is a small restaurant near the center of town, can't think of the name at the moment, but it's across the street from the park. Had decent burgers etc. and not expensive. It might not be quite what you are looking for though.

The only food we had at the Jackson Lake Lodge was bar food outside on the deck overlooking the Tetons. Very nice views and and not expensive. We skipped the Mural Room - looked too stuffy for the area.

Drive out to Nora's Fish Creek Inn a few miles out in the town of Wilson. It's where the locals each; and it's good and inexpensive.

Another of my favorites - Jedidiah's House of Sourdough. Yummy, yummy. Go super early in the morning or be prepared to wait. In an old historic log cabin just east of town square.

Well, thanks, guys. I just printed the menus for Sweetwater and Nora's Fish Creek Inn. Both look like good choices. Howard, how long a drive is it from Jackson to Wilson? We like to eat where the locals eat. What type of town is Wilson? Anything worth checking out there? We're staying at the Wyoming Inn which serves breakfast so I'm not sure we'll be hitting Bubbas or Soudough unless they're good for lunch, too. We'll have to do a lot of hiking in the Tetons to work off those good meals. Well, we're also going to Yellowstone and Glacier National Park so we'll have plenty of opportunity to work off the big meals.

You might want to consider a most enjoyable evening out with dinner and a show at the Bar J Chuckwagon. We have visited Jackson Hole twice and have been to their dinner and show both times. Even if the cowboy/western music entertainment was not professional and enjoyable, I would go again just for the chuckwagon BBQ "steak/chicken" dinner. You can check out the price, menu and location at www.barjchuckwagon.com. Reservations are suggested. There is another chuckwagon dinner/show at www.bart5.com but we have not attened the one there.
This is really a delightful and entertaining inexpensive evening out.

If my memory serves me accurately, I believe Wilson is about 7-8 miles from downtown Jackson. And if my memory still serves me well, there wasn't much else in that town. However, we really didn't look around much when we went to Nora's!

Jacquie - We just got back from Jackson/Yellowstone last month - stayed at the Wyoming Inn and would do so again with no hestitation. The breakfast there was decent, with more selection than "free" motel breakfasts usually have. We have eaten at the Mural Room - I would save my $ and eat at the Old Faithful Lodge while you are in Y'stone instead for a Nat'l Park Lodge experience. The Pioneer Grille at Jackson Lake is decent, tho - strictly counter seating but the food was good and reasonably priced for a "captive" audience.....buffalo burgers, hamburgers, fish, salads, etc. Also a decent breakfast and coffee. The guys in our group liked dessert - pies, cake, etc - that we ordered "to-go" then sat in the gorgeous lobby and ate -
The Bunnery is absolutely worth a visit - go for lunch if not breakfast - and I think in the summer they are open for supper. We picked up sandwiches to take on the plane home with us the day we left. Dornan's in either Moose or Wilson (they have a website - look them up) was very convenient when on the Morman Row side of the park and was a good stop for lunch - gourmet pizza and specials of the day. If not in the mood for a hot lunch the grocery right next door had great-looking deli sandwiches. We ate at the Merry Piglets for supper - just off the square in Jackson Hole - decent Mexican food and margaritas - and not too pricey...most meals were under $10-12. Be sure to hike to Inspiration Point at Jenny Lake - a classic!

We also ate at the Mangy Moose in Teton Village - I wasn't impressed with either the food or the prices. But others in our group liked it. The portions were large - so maybe you could share?

Great to hear that you enjoyed the Wyoming Inn. Well that's definitely it for the Mural Room. Is it possible or even necessary to make a reservation now for dinner at the Old Faithful Lodge? We're staying at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge when in Yellowstone. Should I just wait till we get there? Thanks for all your info, really appreciate it. Jacquie

If the Old Faithful Lodge will let you, yes, make res now. They are always very busy.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Make your reservations now for dinner at the Old Faithful Inn. I made reservations a few months in advance and I was only able to get the earliest seating. The food isn't outstanding, but it is a really nice experience and I would eat there again.
