Restaurants in wine country?
 

Please help with suggestions for restaurants in Sonoma/Nappa area. Not exceedingly pricy, but good food at moderate prices. Willing to spend more for one special night.
Especially interested in restaurants in winerys.

Check out winecountry.com. Lots of great choices. Haven't been to any of the restaurants in the wineries but I highly recommend Restaurant Della Santina in the town of Sonoma. Gordon's Cafe in Yountville is great for breakfast/lunch. Mustard's is always a treat. In Napa itself Tuscany is good & not terribly pricey. Boon Fly Cafe on Hwy 121 from Napa to Sonoma is really good for any meal.

In Sonoma, we like the girl and the fig, the Swiss Hotel, General's Daughter (I hear their new chef is excellent), Cafe La Haye. In Kenwood is a great little place, moderately priced called Dolce Lunas. For a true splurge check out the Farmhouse Inn in Forestville. www.farmhouseinn.com :)

We also enjoyed the restaurant at the Chateau Souverain winery, Alexander Grille. We had the fixed price lunch, 3 courses for about $19/pp. Cheers and have a great visit to the wine country! ***kim*** ((#))

In St. Helena, the Culinary Institute of America's Greystone Cellars restaurant is terrific. The cooking is done by professional chefs doing special courses at the Institute.

Other good restaurants: Domaine Chandon in Yountville, Pinot Blanc in St. Helena.

Check out the martini House,they have great food ad the outside garden is a very nice place to dine,Loved Domaine Chandon-more formal,My favorite is Aubege du solei,I know that this is not spelled right.It is wonderful,ask to sit on the terrace.

Bouchon Bistro in Younteville (and the Bouchon Bakery) are fantastic for relaxed bistro food with some upscale service!

While not actually in a winery, our favorite places that don't cost an arm and a leg are Rutherford Grille in Rutherford and Uva Trattoria in the city of Napa. Don Giovanni's has a great vineyard view as well as being quite tasty also.

If you want a beautiful valley view (Auberge style), there are great picnic tables at Rutherford Hills winery (lunch only of course). I noticed there is a regular "disco in the caves" night scheduled at Coppola to work off some of those calories.

If you do want the winery setting you can check out the different wensites for the dinners that are held in the caves. They are for members primarily, but many are open to the public. Try Clo Pegase, Chimney Rock, BV, ZD, or Andretti websites for opportunities.
