Restaurants in Washington DC
 

I'll be in Washington DC next 12-15th SEP with my wife and baby (1 1/2 year). We'll be staying at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.

Can you suggest me restaurants in that area (and also in Dupont Circle) that you may consider friendly for babies?

In Dupont, you might enjoy dining at Pizzeria Paradiso (consistently gets top marks for best pizza in DC). It's a relatively small restaurant (how big is your stroller?), so dining early would be better.

Dupont Circle is a great area for kid-frendly, not too stuffy dining. Yuo should try Lauriol Plaza for southwestern, Pesce for seafood, Bistro de Coin for french, Pizzaris Paradiso for pizza, and Kramerbooks for sandwiches. This is just the tip of the iceberg

I'm afraid I can't help much with the baby part. But do yourself a favor and dine away from the Woodley Park area where your hotel is located. Accept for maybe Lebanese Taverna (okay, others will have their own favorites), most of those restaurants cater to the convention crowds. You are going to find better restaurants across the Taft Bridge on into Dupont Circle and across the Ellington Bridge and on into Adams Morgan.

My husband and I just got back from Washington D.C. and had a great time. One of our favorite restaurants is Obelisk which is located in Dupont Circle. It is listed as Italian, but I just found the mixture of flavors creatively brilliant. It is a lot of fun because they bring out several small servings of different courses that are great. There is a defined price of approx $60 per person for 5 courses but adding drinks and desserts brought us up to $140. It is small and intimate so if you have the baby with you it may not work. Also, the Metro is the underground subway which is awesome. We quickly learned how to use it and it can take you everywhere. It's safe, pretty clean, air conditioned and cheap.

I don't like Pizza Paradiso, which I know is going against a very strong current. But I was just in DC and when I ate there, I found the pizza extremely bland. I couldn't figure out why, and then all of a sudden, I could taste a bit of basil. It hit me - that's why - they don't have ANY herbs on the pizza, and the tiny taste of basil was extremely obvious because the rest of the pizza had none. Basically my pizza had no sauce, just chopped tomatoes, mozzarella, spinach. I like all those ingredients, but on a pizza, I'd like a bit of herbs as well.

Guapas Mexican restaurant in the N.W. district is very kid-friendly, with the added attraction of excellent food.
