restaurants in Pensacola/Destin areas
 

Anyone have recommendations for dining? Mexican, Italian and seafood--any places you would recommend that are not franchise operations. Thanks

The Back Porch is fun, right on the beach. Good food at a reasonable price. Long wait during season.

In Pensacola you can find great Mexican food at Cactus Flower on 12th Avenue. Don't even bother with any of the others in town...this one is the best! The owner grew up as a migrant worker in California and uses only the freshest of ingredients. No alcohol served but you can bring your own.

In Destin our family of four (kids 13/11) loved Joe's Crab Shack (casual, busy place) and Louisiana Lagniappe (quieter, cajun/seafood)

In Pensacola Beach we like Flounders Chowder House and Peg Leg Pete's (both seafood, casual)

In Pensacola we had fun at McGuires Irish Pub and Brewery (good steak, comedian did a show while we were there)

On Pensacola Beach there are also two restaurants owned by McGuire. They are Flounders and Crabs. If you're really, really hungry get the seafood platter at Flounders. You'll also get a ton of food at McGuire's so go hungry!

All the steaks & beef at McGuire's are prime beef. They only serve the prime rib on Friday and/or Saturday night. Best prime rib I've ever had.

And they make their own beer. ((b))

I second the Back Porch. It's been awhile since we've been there but it was great.

We go to Navarre every year and never miss going down to Destin to eat at the Louisiana Lagniappe, it is great the food is great.. Grouper is wonderful anyway they fix it.. Crab cakes are the best.. and a nice view of the bay .. Hope you enjoy ..There is a place in Pensacola-- Copelands it is very good also and of course for burgers Mcguires and that is in Destin as well as Pensacola..

We were in both cities at the end of March/first of April 2004.

Louisianna Lag is always good. We ate there on our honeymoon so it's somewhat a sentimental choice.

The best place we ate at on the trip was Fish House in Pensacola. Very fresh fish and great Southern sides.

Do not eat at Roccos Italian in Destin. We went in one day for their Lunch Buffet and found Meatloaf, corn, and mash potatoes...some good food, but not Italian...we walked back out.

I've always enjoyed the Donut Hole in Destin
