Restaurants in Palm Desert/Palm Springs
Would welcome restaurant suggestion in medium price range in the Palm Dessert/Palm Springs area.

I had a great meal (Chilean Sea Bass) at The Yard House. They have something like 100 beers on tap. It was about $30 per person with a drink, app, and dinner.

Johannes in downtown Palm Springs has a lovely menu and excellent food. They also offer very moderately priced (for what you are getting) prix fixe dinners.

Shame on the Moon in Rancho Mirage is one of my favorite spots anywhere. Its loyal following is divided about equally between the gay and the gray. (Maybe I like the place so much because I fall into both categories!)

The Falls in downtown PS is great for steaks and killer martinis. There are some pretty wonderful Mexican places around there as well: Blue Coyote, La Terraza and Del Rio's are a short list. Of the chains, the Yardhouse and California Pizza Kitchen are always reliably good. Thai Smiles is a small resto with incredible Thai food-- if you like it hot and tasty, you'll love it. And it's cheap!!

One of my favorite places in Palm Desert is Don Diego's for Mexican food. Located on the corner of Cook & Hwy 111.

Tsing Tau for Chinese just east of Portola on Hwy 111.

Tony Roma's in both cities, both on Hwy 111.

You will be in restaurant heaven in Palm Desert!
|
Also the Marriott Desert Springs Hotel in Palm Desert has several excellent restaurants!
|
Personal opinion is avoid Las Casuelas Terraza, Don Diego's and Tony Roma's.

Thai Smile is great, La Trattoria, El Mirasol, Edgardo's Cafe Veracruz, Elmer's Pancake House, The Deck, Atlas and Johannes are all good in PS. In PD, Omri & Boni, Pacifica, Tommy Bahama's and Jovanna's are good. Shame on the Moon is very good, but pricier.
|
Thank you everyone for your suggestions. We're staying at the Marriott and know there are some great restaurants there, but wanted some follow-ups as well.

I agree with PSLocal about Tommy Bahama's. A great place for lunch... I haven't had dinner there. Kaiser's Grill on Hwy 111 is also good. In Rancho Mirage Kobe's is excellent for Japanese food!
