Restaurants in New Orleans

Hi everyone, My husband and I were there in April and I'm just posting now. I had so many good suggestions from this forum that I wanted to repay the favors. We went to quite a few places, but the ones that stand out (good and bad) are as follows. Petunias, 817 St. Louis St, in the quarter, for breakfast. Try the fruit crepes, wow! Mr. B's, for either lunch or dinner, excellent food and great service! They're at 201 Royal Street in the quarter. Andrew Jaeger's House of Seafood, it's also in the quarter, somewhere off Royal St. I forget exactly, but this is a supper club with a 3 piece combo. Nice atmosphere, intimate, casual and very entertaining and relaxing. Food very good and nobody rushes you. Lastly we went to Brennans, On Royal St. on a friend's recommendation and I was not impressed. $85.00 for breakfast! and I didn't even think the atmosphere was anything to rave about. I figure if I'm paying those kind of prices it would really be an elegant atmosphere. But no. I should have listened to my other co-worker who recommended Commanders. Oh, well there's next time. Hope you all have a great time and feel free to e-mail me with any other info I can give you.

And to think, we cancelled our reservations at Brennans and instead went to Commander's Palace where we had a terrible experience from waitstaff to food and worst of all..no music at a "jazz brunch".

Robbin, give it up! Quit complaining about Commander's!!!! It's getting old.

Everyone I know who have eaten at Commander's Palace loved it. I loved it. Galatoires was wonderful, as well.

We had two good dinners last weekend, one at Irene's Cuisine and the other at Arnaud's (spelling?)...

Glad to hear Arnaud's is still good. We've eaten there and found it to be as good as some of it's more famous brethren. It's owned by my husband's first ever boss, Archie Casbarian, who was GM of the Royal Orleans back in the 70's--the start of our hotel career.

Are there any locals here who know what has happened to Elmwood Plantation? That was another favorite, and where we had some wonderful anniversary dinners, but I never see it mentioned now and wonder if it is no more?
