Restaurants in Las Vegas
 

We will be visiting Las Vegas this weekend with our two sons aged 5 & 6. Please recommend good Quality restaurants (no chains, buffets, etc) that it is acceptable to take children to. Thanks.

Since there is much discussion of this, to start, I would suggest typing Las Vegas Restaurants into the search box and read there first. It will help you sort out which ones sound like something you would like, then you can post questions about specific restaurants too.
Which hotel will you be staying in?
I noticed at the Bellagio, couples with small children ate early in the more casual places, the cafe and even Olives but early!
No chains and buffets might make it more difficult, I don't really know since we never eat in those either, but we don't have children with us in LV either.

On the strip, you got two choices: restaurtants that are very expensive and restaurants that are very poor. They are not mutually exclusive. The only decent thing that I've every gotten to eat for a reasonable price there is the crepe at Paris. If you are the slightest bit picky about food, avoid the buffets. They are cheap filler.

The best advice anyone can give you is to get away from The Strip to eat.

If you want to avoid all chains and buffets, yet have good food in a kid-friendly place, the list will be short.
I'm thinking, but nothing's coming to mind. A big majority of the successful places in LV are chains.

Most of the hotels' coffee shops are reasonably priced...I've eaten at the ones at Monte Carlo, IP, Harrah's, Sahara, Golden Nugget, Excalibur, TI, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, Paris, Four Queens, The Plaza, Golden Gate. Was happy with all of them, they (mostly) aren't very fancy, don't see that there would be a problem with kids. General rule of thumb, the fancier the hotel, the fancier/pricier the coffee shop.

Of course, you DO have to go to the casino hotels to get to these places, and walk through the casino, but I have always found them to be a good value. I much prefer them to buffets.

Hi jeanned: I would recommend restaurants in one of the following casinos: MGM, Excalibur, Circus Circus since they cater more to families/children. The steak house at Circus Circus is very good. Also, there are several eateries in the New York, New York that would be fine.

Kids love Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville at the Flamingo. There are characters on stilts that make balloon hats for everyone, the "volcano" eruption every hour, and lots of singing and dancing. The food is just OK.

Hum... doesn't look like there are many places that are child friendly but aren't chains/buffets!! Can you bring children to some of the fancier restaurants (early)? We enjoy good food.

I totally understand you, about not wanting to eat buffets & at chains or just anything, WE feel the same way. Eating wonderfully is now part of the Vegas experience!
I don't think you could take kids into Le Cirque @ Bellagio, but maybe the less elegant no dress code strictly encforced places might allow children. I strongly suggest you call and ask and while you are at it, make the reservations.
Question.. will your kids eat there (fancy places)? Do they behave or do you have to run around with them?
