Restaurants in Ft. Lauderdale
 

Does anyone know of any good restaurants (seafood)in Ft. Lauderdale? Also, any good clubs that cater to 50ish ladies that like to dance? Thanks

Mangoes on Las Olas was lots of fun, the food was reasonable and the people watching was just great.

It's rustic looking and rather casual, but I still recommend the 15th Street Fisheries on the Intracoastal at the end of 15th Street. We stopped there for lunch last yesterday, when only the more casual downstairs bar is open and I had one of the best and most perfectly cooked pieces of salmon ever, and my partner was equally thrilled with his yellowfin tuna, just seared and perfectly seasoned. The main dining room upstairs is much nicer and only open at dinner.

We (I and DH) are taking our respective mothers this May to FLL, and while hubby and I have been there several times, no particular attention was paid to choice of restaurants - basically, Aruba Beach Cafe in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea because we could walk to it, or whichever resturant had the shortest wait on Las Olas. This time we'd like to pay closer attention to our dining choices, if only that Mom and MIL would have great food on their long awaited holiday ;)

When my DH and I were in FLL we always remembered Charlies Crab. It is on the intracoastal. I would recommend it to you. I think they will like it here. They have outside and inside dining. Valet parking, etc. I might add what a nice gesture taking your Moms.

Kasperdoggie -- I noticed you said you could walk to Aruba from where you stayed... Where exactly did you stay?? Looking for a place to stay in LBTS - so many of the places are being torned down......thanks

Old Florida Seafood House has great seafood. Lots of locals go there.

summero4. just wanted to let you know we had a bad experience at OlD Fla Seafood House last Friday,,...dinner was not hot and did not bring a repalcement for 20 mins...was the waiters fault, but still, it made us very reluctant to go back. FYI, Judy

Wow, I'm glad to hear that the 15th Street Eatery is still around. I always liked that place. As for Old Florida Seafood House, it always reminded me of an upscale Red Lobster.

Old Florida Seafood House is definitely not upscale in feel, but they have very very fresh seafood, prepared simply. not much for atmosphere, but good food.

just off the Galt Ocean Mile (on that main highway that is parallel to Galt Ocean Mile, i think it's A1A, not sure of the name) is a tiny little french bistro called Grandma's....great, simple french food, amazing dessert crepes and homemade ice cream. totally worth a trip, but make reservations.

JoJo1, I am afraid I can't help you with a place to stay in LBTS - we always stay at a family condo in one of the LBTS condo high-rises, almost across the street from Public and near Clarion Hotel. So my knowledge of hotels in LBTS is pretty much nonexistent. I don't know if any of those condos are available for rent - possibly worth checking out? Try www.vrbo.com or www.weneedavacation.com if you're interested in renting a condo.

There are still many small hotels in Lauderdale By The Sea. Try A Little Inn by the Sea or, for something a little more basic and quieter try the Tides Inn. We too are taking our Moms for a quick weekend and go where we can walk to dinner. Might try Seawatch this time. And while not fine cusine we love the Roadhouse on the intercoastal-fun and a great place to watch the boats go by.
