Restaurants in Flagstaff and Sedona

Hello!

Any good Southwestern, Western or Native American Restaurants in Sedona and/or Flagstaff?

Also, I hear there is a New Zealand restaurant in Flagstaff. Has anyone eaten there? If so, how was it?

A New Zealand restaurant?
I've been to NZ several times but I'm not sure what NZ cuisine would be.
NZ is all about fish and sheep.
Nothing unique that comes to mind.

There are several posts about Sedona restaurants like Javelina. Check the archives here.
If you want lots of details, check www.chowhound.com. It's a food connoisseur site.

There was a place in Flagstaff called the Down Under New Zealand, but I'm not sure if it's still in operation or not. I never tried it...but heard that kangaroo kebabs were on the menu!
Flagstaff has two good Thai places...Racha Thai and Dhara Thai. Sorry...you asked for Southwestern, Western, or Native American. I got carried away.

The dining room at the Enchantment Resort is beautiful. I only had breakfast there, but it was fantastic! Something like crab eggs benedict, with a southwestern chipolte type sauce - yummm! Dinner is supposed to be excellent.

We were in Sedona in October. We thought the Javelina Cantina had some of the worst Mexican food we've ever. We ate barbeque at a hole in the wall on the main street called the Hitching Post. It was very good. Also the food at the airport. We could eat outside when we were there and the view was wonderful.

I am heading to Flagstaff in a few days.

I don't eat beef or pork, so does anyone know of a good place for fish and/or chicken or vegetarian?

Hi,

I went to school in Flagstaff so I might be able to help.

You must try Oregano's. It's not southwestern, but the food is fabulous. It started in Phoenix and they opened a restaurant in Flagstaff last year. (The Oregano's Favorite salad is a must try)
Mike and Rhonda's..the biggest and cheapest breakfast in town.
Dara Thai..decent Thai food
Macy's Coffeehouse..a Flagstaff institution with good vegetarian stuff
Chez Marc Bistro..consistently rated as Flag's best for French
New Frontiers..it's a grocery store that specializes in organic, but they have a good vegetarian cafe
Beaver Street Brewery...a brewery with good food
Salsa Brava...good baja style tacos and mexican food
Alpine Pizza..this is where I would go if I was going to eat pizza, BUT I have access to Oregano's here in Phoenix. Since you don't I'd go with Oregano's.

Have fun!
:)Snarla

Hi Kevin,

I live in Flagstaff and might add to the suggestions here:

Southwestern (Flagstaff): Salsa Brava is good for Mexican (close match)
Western Steakhouse (Flagstaff) Horsemen's Lodge, complete with wildlife "trophies" on the wall!
Native American (north of Flagstaff, about one hour in Cameron): Historic Cameron Trading Post has the most authentic navajo tacos around and a nifty gift shop with native crafts - great stop to/from the Grand Canyon

Sedona: You MUST try the Heartline Cafe. It's a mix of cuisines but stellar in every respect!

The New Zealand restaurant did close, and was replaced with a trendy Asian fusion place. They have good food too - it's called Monsoon on the Rim.
