restaurants for kids
We're travelling to phoenix/scottsdale and sedona with 2 kids, ages 7 and 10. We're used to eating at better restaurants in New York, even with the kids and are looking for excellent restaurants in Arizona that won't mind a couple of well behaved kids. Any suggestions?

nuyrkdad,
Well behaved kids are welcome in all restaurants that I know of. What kind of food/atmosphere are you interested in? ((D))8-) |
Sedona: Shugrue's Hillside Grill; Judi's, Heartline, Javelina Cantina.
|
More Sedona: Rene's, The Brewery Grill -- both in Tlaquepaque.

thanks for all your replies, someone had mentioned roaring fork or cowboy ciao in scottsdale, anyone think these are ok for kids?
|
Personally, if I were at either one for dinner, I'd not be too happy having kids around. But that being said, I'm also quite sure they'd be welcome at Roaring Fork, and the menu would be more suitable for kids. CC would not be so open to kids.

The Roaring Fork is one of my favorite restaurants, and yes, the kids will fine there.

great, thanks so much for your help

I second the vote for Roaring Fork! My favorite restaurant is Heartline Cafe in Sedona. In between Phoenix and Sedona is Rock Springs Cafe (NOT fancy) in Black Canyon City, right off I-17 (known for their pie). In Phoenix, a less-known restaurant is Kai at the Sheraton at Wild Horse Pass. They serve dishes based on local ingredients with a Native American Influnce. It is small and quiet, so well-behaved is imperative. A fun, but kitschy place is Rustler's Rooste at the Pointe South Mountain. You can get better steaks elsewhere, but I don't know of any others with a slide. Richardson's serves New Mexico-style (read spicy) southwestern; Z'tejas (a chain)is also good for southwestern (and fabulous but not authentic margaritas). A place I haven't tried but gets good reviews is Pizzeria Bianco in downtown Phoenix. Most restaurants that you would take your kids to will accomodate them (I have an 8-yo). Cheers!

Don't bring the kids to Bianco unless a 1.5 hour waiting line for a table is acceptable to them. (I know it's not acceptable to me!)
