Restaurants en route to Cannon Beach from Portland, OR

I will be flying into Portland and driving directly to Cannon Beach via US26. Can someone recommend a nice restaurant for lunch on the way? No dietary restrictions, no cost restrictions.

I've never been to Portland, but I was thinking it would be too much hassle to drive into the city from the airport for lunch. Although I'm basing this thought on the fact that I live in Chicago.

Thank you

Camp 18 is a classic stop.
Check it out!

Elmers of exit 21A on I-205. Great food and just off the highway. http://www.elmers-restaurants.com/lo..._dynamic.html#
If I'm taking someone to PDX or picking up, an Elmers is hard to beat.

Downtown Portland is a tiny, tiny town compared to Chicago - blink when driving past downtown on the highway and you'll miss it. You'll almost surely take I-84 into Portland than I-5/I-405 to US 26 anyway so you'll be going right around downtown. Unless it's rush-hour traffic I wouldn't hesitate to stop in NW Portland or the Pearl for lunch. Do a search here for Portland restaurant recommendations. I'm not really a restaurateur to recommend the hip places other people like here. I can recommend Hot Lips Pizza for a quick lunch at a popular local chain that supports local farmers, good salads, etc. to go with your pizza slices.

Once you get past downtown on US 26 and up the hill out of Portland, you'll drive past a some suburban stripmalls/chain restaurants like Red Robin but once you get past Hillsboro, there's almost nothing (aside from say Camp 18).

I agree with Jeff. Stop at Camp 18. It's on #26 at milepost 18. It's an old logging camp with historic old equipment. The food is good, but beware, the portions are huge! Just like the old days when feeding the lumberjacks.
