Restaurants Downtown-Las Vegas

Can anyone recommend any good restaurants in downtown Las Vegas? I am going to Vegas next week and wanted to go downtown to get the whole Vegas expereince. Should we eat dinner there one night or just go down to look?

Good steak and great views at Binion's Ranch Steakhouse at the top of Binion's. This seems like a classic Vegas steakhouse to me, and this would be my first choice for a place downtown if you are looking for the whole Vegas experience thing. Might need to make reservations. Coffee shop at Golden Nugget also serves pretty good food.

Stefano's (Italian food & singing waiters - really!) and Lily Langtry's (Chinese & steak)in the Golden Nugget are both first class. Possibly also need reservations if you are going at a busy time/day.

The brewery at Main Street Station is fun and less pricey that the other choices; brew pub atmosphere & food.
Or go to the diner/cafe at The Golden Gate - classic Vegas coffee shop, famous 99 cent shrimp cocktail.

Try the Shrimp Scampi at the Pasta Pirate in the California Hotel. Don't let the oddball name of the restaurant fool you, this is downtown dining at it's best! Not expensive.

I agree about Binion's. Like stepping back to the 50's or 60's, but really excellent steaks. And you have a great view, and can even look down onto the Fremont experience from above.

The Redwood Bar and Grill in the California Hotel has a pretty good porterhouse steak special. It's not on the menu, but is about $20 for a complete meal. I've also heard good things about the Main Street Station pub, especially their late night special beer prices.

Another vote for Binions. Besides the steaks being good, they have $5 blackjack tables downstairs. When you're not a big gambler, you can play a lot longer when the bets are smaller!

For fine dining, try Hugo's Cellar in the Four Queens. the service is incredible and the food is always terrific. My family loves this place!

For a snack, you can get a sliced-to-order sandwich from the Horseshoe, waaay in the back. The slicer is the grouchiest guy you will ever come across, but the sandwiches are yummy!
