Restaurants -Boca and Ft Lauderdale

Need restaurant suggestions for an upcoming business trip. Flying into FLL and need to grab lunch before driving to Boca for dinner meeting. Will also have a "free" night in Boca for dinner. Good seafood that won't break the bank, or good local fare that cant be missed. Appreciate any suggestions! Trip is in early May.

Louie Bossi IN FLL, I don't if the Boca restaurant is open yet. They only have two sites, it is not a chain.

We also like GG's in Hollywood.

The Boca location is just hiring staff.

Bossi food isn't anymore "local" that a lot of other places in the city but it is in an interesting part of town.

There are tons of restaurants in Boca, as you know, but after many disappointing and mostly overpriced meals, I've yet to find one I considered great.

For good home-style Greek food, Taverna Kyma might suit. Stick to the appetizers. It can be hectic but the staff is very nice. Not at all fancy. Book ahead.

There's also a good Taiwanese hotpot restaurant in West Boca but not sure you are looking for that. And Sybarite Pig is fun if you are into pork and craft beers.
Not for a staid group, though.

IDH: Thanks for that tip on Bossi...sounds worth checking out!

Thanks, everyone! Appreciate the info.

Here's something you might want to think about: I assume you are renting a car at FLL. You are headed to Boca Raton. The most obvious route would be I-95. There are a lot more restaurant choices both downtown alone East Las Olas Blvd AND along US Rte 1 north; the latter you could also use for the trip north.

The Bossi location would be a diversion but one easily done and despite the valet parking charge should you opt for it there are worse things.

Whether or not any of the food offerings down here are "worthwhile" or any of the other adjectives depends a LOT on what you are used to. Places like Kaluz along the ICW are popular; JAlexanders and JMarks are loved by some and hated by others. There's the whole "It isn't as good as New York" crowd and yet I see some of them over on A1A gobbling down the food at Greek Islands all the time.

Enjoy your stay.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but there is a BBQ place on Commercial Blvd that gets a lot of good reports. If you like BBQ meats you might want to check it out. I keep meaning to go but it is a bit far for me, so I am only passing on what I've heard and read.
No atmosphere, though. The pastrami, Thursday only, gets great comments.

A friend of ours is the GM of the restaurant. That said, it is one the better restaurants we have found in the area.

That explains a lot

Yes, Dukey, I can see where honesty would upset a person such as yourself. I am also personal friends with the almost 600 people who reviewed the restaurant on Yelp.

I like Louis Bossi on Las Olas as well. Had a wonderful pasta carbonara our last time there.

Two places we like: in Boca , Roots Italian kitchen especially if seated on the patio, and Casa d'Angelo in Ft. Lauderdale.

If you like Vietnamese look at Basilic Vietnamese Grill on Commercial. Wonderful pho, and a helpful staff to recommend wine parings.

Thanks for the additional suggestions....I'm a foodie and wish I could try all of these! The Casa DAngelo in Boca is really tempting...has anyone eaten at Trulucks?
