Restaurants between Kennebunkport & Belfast
 

Can anyone recommend some good restaurants, especially in Portland. Is Bartley's Dockside in Kennebuckport any good? Who has the best baked lobster?

What type of restaurant are you looking for? What price range? Portland has some great restaruants, Fore Street and 555 are both excellent.

Four of us tried Greek Corner on Exchange Street in Portland and LOVED it! Two of us had a traditional Greek dinner, one had seafood and one had steak. Excellent food, pricing, service and ambience. If you are heading to Belfast, you will want to eat at Weathervane. It's down on the waterfront. Fresh seafood, excellent service and very low prices. When passing through Wiscasset, you will definitely want to stop at Red's Eats. It's been written up many times in magazines from all over the country. It's just a small trailer located just before the bridge on the left. You will continue on Rt. 1 and there isn't a restaurant in downtown Rockland that I wouldn't recommend. There is something for everyone now. Enjoy the trip!

Yestravel, we will be looking for restaurants serving fresh seafood & of course lobster. I will probably need some meat during the trip, maybe a steak or a cheeseburger for Lunch. Any price range works. Thanks Yestravel; Looking forward to your reply.

I second Reds -- definitely worth the wait -- best lobster roll in ME 4 me. In Portland, Duckfat is a nice little spot -- great sandwichs and fries. If you want to drift off Rte 1 for a bit, Georgetown is a charming little area -- they have their lobster pound, 5 Islands which has great lobster and lobster rolls, clams and onion rings. Also on the way is Kelly's, a little trailer on the right side of the road, good lobster rolls and crab rolls too. Right before Kelly's is the General store that has good food including lobster rolls. If you like sweets, don't miss Mane Sweets on the same road. Robinson's Meeting House has high end food that is ok, but they do have delicious biscuits.

Primo in Rockland gets great reviews but we were disappointed that we spent the money for an ok meal...we could have had many lobster rolls for the cost of the dinner. Waterman's is in S. Thomaston and has great lobster and to die 4 pies.

As u can tell, we focus on seafood, primarily lobster, so can't help u out on the meat, other than sandwiches at Duckfat in Portland. Have a great trip!

The Estes restaurants near Brunswick, if you are going before Columbus Day (I think they close after Columbus Day). There are 3 of them & they are located on the peninsula: Harpswell, Orr's Island & Bailey's Island. Dolphin Marina, also.

See my post on Portland as the Foodiest small city. As you'll see, there are MANY choices for a town this size. For good seafood and the BEST views, head out to the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth.
