I will be in New York in a few weeks, staying at the warwick--any restuarants in the vicinity people would recommend

At the risk of not having a clue what type or price restaurants you're looking for -- just a couple of suggestions, all within a two block walk of your hotel.

Osteria del Circo, 55th between 6th and 7th. Great contemporary Tuscan food in a super contemporary "Circus" atmosphere. The cheaper cousin to Le Cirque 2000.

Red Eye Grill, 56th at 7th. Bustling and good. Primarily seafood, perfectly fresh and perfectly prepared. Sometimes jazz also.

Aquavit, 54th between 5th and 6th. Great food with a Scandinavian flair in the court of a townhouse now decorated with birch trees and waterfalls. Wonderful, upscale Sunday brunch.

Norma's, 57th at 6th in the Parker Meridien. The place to have a wonderful breakfast.

Milos, Esteiatorio, 55th between 6th and 7th, Greek at its best. Flawless grilled fish. Pricey, but worth it.

Molyvos, 7th between 55th and 56th. Greek -- good food, reasonable, fun atmosphere. Much cheaper than Estiatorio.

Trattoria Dell'Arte: 7th between 56th and 57th. The place with the nose for decor. Good Italian, fairly priced, fairly casual, and super friendly.

Adding to Patrick's excellent list, there's Remi, an outstanding Italian restaurent on West 53rd, between 6th and 7th Avenues.

Howard, funny you mention that. I actually typed in Remi, then realized it was three blocks (outside the two block cut-off I set for myself), but yes, Remi is a good one.

why do people keep talking about Norma's? it's just a big glorified and overpriced hotel coffee shop.

If you are in the mood for a good casual restaurant, try Angelo's Pizza. It's a small Italian Restaurant located on 57th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.
The pizza is excellent and the soups and pastas are delicious. The service is very good. Reasonable prices. Enjoy!
