here in Antwerp we have a restaurant where u choose your own ingredients (uncooked meat or fish and vegetables...), offer them to the cook, choose which sauce and which spices upon which he then woks this into a fabulous dish, different for every person!
So now i was wondering if such a place exists in Orlando and preferably in the vicinity of I'Drive

According to their web site, there's a Stir Crazy in Boca Raton, none in Orlando. Perhaps someone knows if there's a similar chain that has a restaurant in Orlando.

There were restaurants that were known as Mongolian BBQ back awhile ago that let you do this. Not sure if they still exist or where. Maybe try googling the term with Orlando.

Thomascookie, what is the name of this restaurant on Antwerp? We will be visiting there next spring and it sounds like a restaurant we would love to check out.

If you do an advanced search in google for Mongolian and the word Orlando optional words pot, wok, or buffet it gives you the name 'China Jade Buffet Mongolian BBQ' in Orlando.

If you should happen to make a visit to New York City we have several Mongolian BBQs where people queue every day for lunch.

suggestions: go for the Arnold special sauce first and finish with the spicier green curry. Have fun there

We have some of these places in Seattle, and, frankly, they don't make much sense to me.

I am a good cook, and I know that I, with little knowledge of Asian cooking, cannot put together ingredients for a stir-fry that would be as good as those made for me at restaurants with chefs who have spent lifetimes cooking this kind of dish.

Meals here conclude with making soft-icecream sundaes.

These places provide a kind of play-with-your-food fun, but I'd rather eat a stir-fry prepared by skilled hands (and I'll skip the sundae).

The chefs prepare the raw ingredients you picked yourself and then choose which sauces and spices you want to add. I can assure you the chefs are the ones preparing the food.

We live part-time in Belgium and have tried one of these restaurants, I didn't think it was THAT great an experience.
Our favorite Asian restaurant on Int. Drive is Ming Court; their menu is pretty innovative and may offer some things that you haven't thought of. And if you feel compelled to add something to a dish on the menu, they might accommodate you.

They are "fun" and the food is passable but I wonder why, if you have one in Antwerp, you wouldn't eat something in Florida that is more about the US/Florida than another foreign country? We do that silly thing when we go to Europe.

There are many things I knock that I haven't tried (drugs, for instance), but the Mongolian grill free-for-all isn't one of them.

The grill that used to be in my neighborhood was a good place to entertain children, and I noticed that many adults frequented the place.

However, I am with those who would encourage our visitor from Antwerp to investigate restaurants of the type he/she will not readily find at home.

When I want to cook, I do it at home; when I go out to eat, I want a chef to prepare something for me that I won't prepare for myself.

Well then, Caph, the straight answer to this request is no, at least not in the vicinty of Internatinal Drive. I have been to a Belgian restaurant similar to what Thomascookie wants and it's NOT exactly the same as a Mongolian grill. So I suggested the best alternative I could think of, which is Ming's on I-Drive. Which is also close to Pointe Orlando, someplace the OP brought up in another post.
Given that an exact copy of what the OP wants isn't available, I see nothing wrong with suggesting alternatives and explaining why.

And I agree with you, BTilke. But there were others who didn't have your experience with Belgian restaurants.

It's not like Orlando is known for its culinary excellence. What would thomascookie be missing out on - Olive Garden? Outback Steakhouse? All of the other tacky places that line I'Drive?

Since I dislike Orlando, maybe I should have told him to go to Miami instead.

Actually, Mr. Cookie might like the Olive Garden--all those bread sticks and that bottomless bowl of salad. I know we liked the Olive Garden when we went to it for the first time in Orlando about twenty years ago.
