restaurant suggestions in Miami

Staying at the Fontainbleu(for better or worse). Looking for kid and non kid friendly restaurants in either Miami or South Beach.

In a pinch, there is an Outback Steakhouse (I know you have young children from previous posts) in the Holiday Inn on Collins and 22nd. Wolfie Cohens Rascal House is on 172nd or thereabouts. There is also a TGI Fridays on 5th and Ocean Boulevard, News Cafe on 11th (or is it 8th?) and Ocean Boulevard, and Jerrys Deli on 14th or 15th and Collins.

The above would all be kid friendly. For expense reasons, I would probably stay out of the trendier restaurants.

We loved Sushi Siam (ate there twice) located in the Lincoln shopping area. It was so so so good!

Taverna Opa on the southern end of South Beach is great for kids and adults. It's Greek, it's loud, it has dancing. OPA!

LOVE THE RASCAL HOUSE, FROM MY YOUTH. ANY THOUGHTS ON THE NON KID FRIENDLY? KEEP READING ABOUT WISH, PRICE IS NOT A CONSIDERATION

Wish is excellent and it is a bring a fat wallet restaurant. I think Wish is rjw's favorite place in South Beach.

The Forge, is my favorite restaurant and it is very near the Fountainebleu.

Both are non-kid friendly.

Here's my vote for Wish (Hi again, Go!! :) ). Fantastic place (and I'm not a snobbish foodie, but I *will* shell out good money for good food-- and I ate at Wish TWICE, $100/person each time, the last time I was in South Beach-- it's that good!), beautiful dining areas, attentive and friendly service.

I didn't get to Jerry's Famous Deli (oh, but what USED to be in that building...!!!) the last trip (it's at Collins and 14th), but I certainly know the original here in southern CA-- well-appreciated when starving at 1 AM in the Valley! Go's other suggestions are good (News Café is at 8th and Ocean, by the way). TGI Friday's is the same world over (the food is pre-packaged for the most part), so it (and Outback) are known quantities. I have seen families at Lario's at the Beach (practically next door to News Café) fairly early in the evening, before the crush of mojito-seeking clubgoers. For cheap diner eats, maybe the Big Pink...?!

I confess complete ignorance of the Collins Ave area around the Fontainebleau, so I can't make area recommendations. But driving by, I didn't see a lot, frankly.

just returned from sobe on 1-18-04 and have some advise about club tropigala in the fontainblue...if you are staying there the show is free..that is the only reason to go..the kids will enjoy it as will you..do not even think about eating in club tropigala..it was VERY expensive, and after dinner we had to go out to dinner again..the servers were very pushy for tips..i paid by credit card and left a tip in cash and was approached 3 times by servers for no tip on the cc..i said its in cash..very pushy..i complained to the mgt there...enjoy the trip..i will be back with my kids in july...

Kid friendly - Cheesecake Factory in Aventura Mall and P.F. Chang's on Biscayne in North Miami Beach.

Very good fish - Fish Joynt on Miami Gardens Drive.

People watching and good Italian - Carpaccio in Bal Harbour Shops.

Check out the chowhound website for Miami. You should find lots of good suggestions. www.chowhound.com
