Restaurant reservation for New Orleans
I think I posted on the general site. Arriving Friday in New Orleans. Need a recommendation for a restaurant with atmosphere and good seafood.Had reservations at KPaul's but heard it is very touristy and the food is not too good. Do not want Emeril's or Commanders Palace. Thinking of either GW Fins, Lilette or Stella's or Galotoine's. 6 people attending from conference, staying at the Marriott. Where is there a possiblility of getting a reservation? Help please~~

RioMar - just about the best seafood in the country. About 1/3 the price of Emerils, CP, etc. It's in the warehouse district - about a 10 minute walk from the French Quarter or a VERY quick taxi. All locals. The best. Great atmosphere, food, wines & prices.

I have never eaten at RioMar, but it is on my list of places to try on my next visit, as I have heard nothing but great things about it. If it doesn't appeal to you, or you can't get a reservation, I recommend GW Fins. I have eaten there several times and loved everything that I've ever had there.

I second RioMar, and had to add a couple of my own favorites - Herbsaint, on St. Charles Ave, has wonderful food, and at lunch the place just glows. There's always a great fish special.
If you can get uptown and don't mid the wait, Jacques-Imo's has great seafood. Oh, and how could I forget Uglesich's! Go early for lunch one day. |
John Harris, the chef/owner of Lilette, was listed as one of Food and Wine's top 10 a couple of years ago. Oops..this may be too late for you.

I've never been, but have heard great things about Jacquamo's (spelling?) lately - I plan on trying it next time we make it down there. My dad has always been a big fan of Pasqual Manale's (again, spelling?). We went to Galatoire's a few years ago and had a horrible experience (mediocre food and horrible service).

Oops, one more. Arnaud's - you can pay a cover to sit in the "jazz room" with live music - fabulous!
