Restaurant Recommendations for Family
We will be attending the Jr. Olympics in NO from July 27-31. We are staying at Iberville Suites and breakfasts are included with our room. So, we need recommendations for lunches and 4 dinners. We are a family of a single mom and two girls: 12 and 14. We like Creole, Cajun, and seafood. We don't want anything too extravagant-looking for moderately priced good food. What about making reservations? I think I should probably go ahead and make whatever can be done now. Thanks!

Your girls might get a kick out of taking the street car through the Garden District and having lunch at Camilla Grill. Definitely have muffelettas at Central Grocery on Decatur. And beignets at Cafe du Monde.
Suggestions for dinner would the The Gumbo Shop (Shoppe?) and Remoulade (a downscale version of Arnaud's).

Gumbo Shop doesn't do reservations, but it is definitely good and moderately-priced. Praline Connection is also moderately-priced.
If you feel like fried seafood, go to Mike Anderson's on Bourbon and get the Fried Seafood Platter. It is big enough that all 3 of you can share it!
We got a muffaletta to go at Central Grocery and ate it on the plane home.

Thanks for the help. These are the restaurants I have been thinking about: Olde N'Awlins Cookery, Gumbo Shop, Acme Oyster House, and Mike Anderson's. As you can tell, our tastes are really simple. I have toyed with the idea of one special brunch/breakfast the morning we leave. Any recommendations for that?

I agree with Acme, Remoulade, and Praline Connection. The Trolley Stop in the Garden District is good too. We heard the Gumbo Shop is overrated and that you can get better, and cheaper, gumbo elsewhere.
For a special brunch, try the Court of 2 Sisters. I know others on here will say it's not that good, but we thought it was, and you get to sample so many New Orleans dishes!

We loved Court of Two Sisters and thought the food was very good. The extensive buffet was a great opportunity to try more things on our short visit. The outdoor setting is lovely but our visit was in November when it wasn't too hot.
