Restaurant Recommendation for DC

staying at Donovan House, 1155 124th ST. NW - attending concert at 930 Club/9:30 – 815 V ST. N.W. Washington DC - need restaurant suggestions between/near these two locations -
anything will do, just not high end expense or presentation, have our 11 year old daughter with us - looking for good food and friendly service

If you're talking about current time, It's summer Restaurant Week in DC so strongly recommend you check to see if you need to book ahead.

First Choice: Ted's Bulletin

Ben's Chili Bowl
Posto (Italian w/pizza)
Kapnos (mediterranean tapas)
Rice (Thai)
Thai Tanic (Thai)
The Pig
Tortilla Coast (tex mex, decent not great food)
Commissary (burgers pub food)
Stoney's (same, tables in back away from bar)

It's NOMB but what's at the 9:30 club for an 11 YO?

And will an 11 year old be allowed into this "club"?

NewbE Aug 11th, 2014 09:53 AM

nyt, please stop commenting on things for which you have no useful input! Seriously, it's like a reflex with you, and it's getting beyond irritating. Do you even know what the 9:30 Club is? That's it been there for decades and is a music venue? Did the OP ask about whether his child would be let in?

Please!

Almost forgot, sheesh: I really like Estadio on 14th St.

And I really like Busboys and Poets, at 14th and V:

This is more of a combination coffeehouse and casual restaurant, hip and homey.

Thai Tanic is a good neighborhood Thai place, very solid with friendly service. Ben's Chili Bowl is more like a diner, very historic, but just be aware that really all you'll get is chili/hotdogs and the like. But it's good!

9:30 is an all ages club -- no restriction on age for entry, but typically the acts that play there aren't popular with your average 11 year old. I was just curious. (One Direction is playing at Nationals Park tonight however…)

If you've got an adventurous eater, there are a wealth of excellent Ethiopian restaurants in the vicinity of the 9:30 club.

Hope you find a good place to eat and enjoy the show. You might ask the staff at the Donovan House as well -- they should have some good rec's.

thanks to you both, obxgirl and NewbE - input very much appreciated - checked with club before buying tix; Oct 19, an Irish rockn'roll band (all 4 under 20 years) named TheStrypes - check them out on youtube, just good old straight ahead crunching with an attitude - all three of us will be dancing our butts off - for us, a great excuse to get our girl a look-see at our nation's capitol and escape for a long weekend...again, thanks for enabling our fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants excursion

Ted's Bulletin sounds like the perfect place based on OP's specs, obxgirl. I have become enamored of the place - never had a bad bite of anything, prices reasonable and service excellent - what's not to love?

capital = city
capitol = building

Another helpful response from a resident lemon sucker. Amazing they don't realize how foolish they make themselves.

Yeah, I got the treatment yesterday for spelling Dupont Circle with a capital "p" :-) Who goes through life that way?
