Restaurant recommendation by Pacific Beach in San Diego?

Can anyone recommend their favorite restaurant (no price limit) in the vicinity of Pacific Beach in San Diego. If we have to drive, we'd rather go toward downtown than north toward La Jolla. Thanks.

Nothing fancy, but I really enjoy Nick's. Good seafood and steaks.

I don't think there are any restaurants in PB that would make my top 50 favorite restaurant list in San Diego. People go to PB as for social reasons- food is not as important as location and atmosphere. But many are relatively cheap and fun. Here are a few of the better establishments in PB/MB.
Lamont Street Grill -Probably the best foodwise but relatively pricey.
Saskas. Good late night dining. Steak is good but not in the same league as Flemings and Donovans in La Jolla or Mortons Downtown.
Gringo's -Toned down for the American palate but decent Southwest/Mexican.
Fishery-Pricey and slow service for the food quality but nicer atmosphere and food than Nicks.
Nicks-Too sports bar-rish for me.
If you want to drive south consider Hillcrest. I like the restaurants in that area more than downtown.

Just got back from SD. Ended up going to a restaurant in Hillcrest called Kemo Sabe. It was absolutely WONDERFUL!!! Food was unique and tasty and service was fabulous. We'd definitely go back.

Pacific Beach is a nice place but not for great food except for the Fishery in Pacific Beach on Cass St(I have never considered it slow everything is fresh and great seafood). Here are some of my favorites on the way to town:
Indigo Grill - little Italy
Jack and Guilios - old town
Fish Market

Next town up is La Jolla. Stunning town with the best restaurants in So.Cal!!
Crab Catcher Restaurant is one of the best with ocean views up the coast. Tapenade is wonderful French and also Nine Ten is excellent as well. P.B. is a run down surf town with good dive restaurants but nothing to write home about. Native!! Cab it if you go downtown!

Nice to keep suggesting for some people who may want to know but the original poster has gone and returned all ready.
Miki also mentions where he dined.
