Restaurant in Ellicott City

We are looking for an intimate, but not too formal, restaurant in Ellicott City to celebrate a 50th birthday. We'd like a place where we can enjoy conversation and good food. The guest of honor is not a fan of seafood. Some atmosphere would also be nice. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi

I saw this listed a few weeks ago for Columbia MD and one was given for Ellicott City too. Hope it helps.

Message: Hi,

If you like Italian, there's a That's Amore in Columbia. It is family style - you share platters. The food is excellent.

That's Amore
10400 Little Patuxent Pky., G1
Columbia
(410) 772-5900

If you prefer Chinese, there is also a P.F. Chang's. It's a chain, but has quite good food.

P.F. Chang's
10300 Little Patuxent Pky.
Columbia
(410) 730-5344

Hope this helps.

Message: If you are looking for fine, non-chain dining, I would suggest Cafe de Paris at 8808 Centre Park Drive (410-997-3560). Don't let the location in an office park throw you off -- this is good stuff.

Another classic fine dining establishment in Columbia is King's Contrivance, 10150 Shaker Drive (410-995-0500). It's housed in an old Federalist mansion and features an American and continental menu.

However, if it were me and I were looking for somewhere to have dinner in Howard County, I'd high-tail it over to Ellicott City a few miles north and book a table at Tersiguel's (8293 Main Street, Ellicott City, 410-465-4004). It's country French, served in an old historic house on an old historic street in this hilly mill town. If Tersiguel's doesn't suit, a half dozen more spots on or near Main Street are sure to.

Message: I would second the move to Ellicott City, where there are numerous better restaurants in Old Town.

Columbia is home of vast array of chain resturants like TGIF, Ruby Tuesday, PF Chang's and the like.

King's Contrivance is okay but is skating on thier rep. I have never been to That's Amore, but with a world famous Little Italy only 25 minutes away in Baltimore why would you want to do that.

Was going to suggest Tersiguel's, but thought it might be a tad formal for merryfish. We had Father's Day lunch/brunch there and were wearing (nice) shorts and shirts, so maybe that would work. In any case, the menu is true French (and in French) and very good. I would call it intimate, too. Might fit the bill nicely.

Hi there -

I also recommend Tersiguel's HIGHLY!

When my then fiance and I finally introduced our parents to each other, it was done over a mother's day brunch at Tersiguel's.

It is a bit dressier, but for a 50th birthday, that's probably ok?

Another fabulous place on the main drag in old Ellicott City is Jordan's.

This is a "oh-la-la" steak place that is probably one of the best steak dinners I've ever had. (and certainly the most expensive!) but for a VERY special occasion, probably justifiable if you have the $$.

Tersiguel's isn't budget by any means, but not overly decadent the way Jordan's is.

Enjoy!
