Restaurant ideas for a Sunday night?
 

My boyfriend and I are travelling to New York for a long weekend in March (3 nights). We are going to Babbo on Friday and Balthazar on Saturday (which we have enjoyed in the past). Any suggestions for dinner on the Sunday night? We are not too concerned about budget, and would prefer somwhere quite romantic. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cafe des Artistes is a classic romantic place--many proposals, etc. One if By Land TIBS is generally considered most romantic restaurant--it is very nice and very good food, but a bit overrated i've always thought, but that's just imo.
Erminia on the Upper East side (Italian) is very romantic, excellent food. Also check out the River Cafe, right under the Brookly Bridge in Brooklyn--very romantic, beautiful views of Manhattan, very good food (American).

Hearth is fantastic. Former chef from Craft I believe. Highly commended on egullet.com and menu is available on www.restauranthearth.com

Since you seem to be concentrating on downtown restaurants, you might like Il Buco, a small, very intimate Italian place in Noho (www.ilbuco.com). a great suggestion is the River Cafe in Brooklyn, with the spectacular view and wonderful food . . . And if you want to go uptown, I second the suggestion of Erminia - but I don't think it's open on Sundays - you might try Kings Carriage House on east 82nd St. And now that I think about it, after Italian at Babbo, you might want something different - Provence or Chez Michellat in the village, a little lower priced than One If By Land . . .
