I'm not aware of any place with dancing (I assume you don;t mean a club for 20 somethings) and a view since the Rainbow Room was closed.

(Not many places have dancing in NYC due to the arcane Cabaret Laws - which require a special license very difficult to get.)

Marriott's the View - does have one - if the food is good is definitely arguable. And while they have entertainment I don;t think they have dancing. You could call them and check - but opentable.com is showing them fully booked, but it's often not accurate.

YOu might try Quarto Gati on 82nd or 83rd just east of 3rd Ave. I've been there on New Years and the restaurant does the holiday nicely. Great food and service and champagne at midnight.

New York doesn't have many restaurants with a view, and as pointed out, very few places in general have dancing. Add in the fact that New Year's Eve means crazy prices--what is your priority--food, drinking, dancing, view (of what?) and how much are you willing to pay for these options?

Call Terrace in the Sky for details. Great view - we could see the Central Park fireworks. A very nice evening.
